I don't learn so good under pressure. Explorer mode would make learning more accessible. I really liked the idea of being able to see all the dungeons and learn them at my own pace. Then I work towards a level of knowledge where I could confidently farm the normal dungeons with PUGs.

2 RepliesWtf when did they remove this and what dumb fk at bungie thought it would be a good idea to remove, ive been away from d2 for a while hoping things would get better but wow was i wrong
-
I am pretty sure they laid off the people responsible for those modes. Hence why we are not getting anything like that anymore. I could be completely wrong and the new dungeon could implement it. We shall see.

That’s what the whole game should be: learning. Explorer mode should never have been taken out. It helped the player base. Bungie is terrible at training the player on more complex mechanics/encounters, ad density/priority targets, or even how abilities and perks work. When they finally had a baseline for easing hesitant players into more challenging and engaging content, they said “nah.”

Edited by mirage: 12/5/2025 5:35:52 PMI started doing dungeons mainly due to explorer mode. Could easily be done solo and didn’t have darkness zones (major annoyance when playing solo). Moved up to regular and then master versions when I was clear with mechanics. Even if they just removed darkness zones and adjusted combatant power without the guides and new gear, that would be a welcome addition.

loved these, made me play more and participate in content I generally ignored

It was probably the only reason I did GotD because I knew regular version of it was so -blam!- half the time and I don't have a R&D group on hand.

They need to do this with Raids as well.

They should make explorer mode raids It would even be good for the elitists, more people knowing the mechanics means less frustration and less time wasted wiping -
Bungie really saw a good idea that was allowing players to try dungeons and get a feel for it while getting some loot and said “No no, we can’t have fun here”
-
2 RepliesIt was a success so they won't ever do it again. And they probably fired whoever thought it up. But hey, limited revives! What fun!
-
That would require them to do a little extra work and yeah you as well as I and everybody else here know that that is a no-fly zone for Bungie... But like somebody else said down below limited revives!! what fun!!!

1 ReplyThis!👆 Last season I was able to finish dungeons for first time since D1. Never was able before. So cool to be able to finish! Liked the selectable modes on the ship as well…

I mostly enjoyed doing these (although Ghosts Of The Deep was a bit of a slog, TBH) and would be happy to see some different dungeons given this treatment, particularly Shattered Throne and Pit Of Heresy I guess that the 3 dungeons they used last time had exclusive Exotics tied to them, and am not sure that all dungeons have an automatic intrinsic exotic but no reason why they couldn’t reward (eg) Wish Ender and Xenophage for completing (eg) the above two to keep it interesting for newbies given that players who sought those weapons out will already have picked them up years ago so nobody should be too mortally offended if they did this

5 RepliesI think explorer dungeons would be a good addition. Just keep gear capped at T3
