Aye, insomnia’s the worst. I get it for weeks at a time sometimes.
There are things you can do to help—consistent sleep schedule, [i]not[/i] getting on your phone or getting up for any reason, making sure your bed is used only for sleeping, etc.—but nothing surefire. Somtimes ya just got insomnia and that’s that.

I've been making a point of not eating before bed, and I've been getting a better night's sleep, but it's harder to fall asleep. If I could eat something I think I'd be out in ten minutes flat, but that's not happening, and I don't want to take a pill. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll give them a try. *sigh* It's always the simple things that are the most elusive.

Eating before bed usually helps me as long as it’s nothing sugary, but in my case, it’s because I probably didn’t eat enough during the day anyway and only realized I’m hungry once bedtime rolls around. Going to sleep hungry is very hard.
