That site, and a 3D printer. Yet, as "accurate" and detailed (not to mention cheap, relatively anyway) as modern minis are, I really do prefer the old lead & white metal minis from years (decades even!) ago. For me, the old ones have got more character than most modern minis.
Scale creep has become an issue though. As models have increased in size, first to 28mm (for a 6ft human) and then to 32mm, true 25mm stuff from the 70s & 80s doesn't work well with new stuff very often. And now 35mm is occasionally seen.
For me, where modern stuff really shines is larger form stuff. The weight made a lot of things fragile and/or clunky. Modern materials have made that a non-issue for the most part.
I’ve never been one to collect minis at all, so I can’t say which I’d prefer. I do have some statuette type dealies, but nothing that was ever meant to be used in a game. Just figures that sit on the shelf.
I went to go dig up a picture of my Sakuna figure for reference, but my phone’s almost dead and imgur drains the battery.
