Too many weapons in Destiny 2—especially fast-firing autos and pulses—feel like laser beams with no downside. Just hold the trigger, delete a Guardian, and move on. No control. No consequence. No skill.
That’s changing—and it should.
Bungie’s move to reintroduce recoil is exactly what the sandbox needs. If you want to melt people across the map, build for it. Spec into stability. Equip counterbalance. Make it a choice, not a given.
Right now, low-recoil weapons fake skill. They let players rack up kills without learning positioning, movement, or cover. Then, when they get punished by someone playing smart, they cry “unbalanced lobby” like the game is broken—not their bad habits.
And here’s the real benefit: this makes balancing easier. Bungie won’t have to nuke weapon types just to stop abuse. Add recoil, and there’s room to tune power without flattening the sandbox.
This isn’t a nerf. It’s a fix. A return to player agency. Guns feel different. Fights feel earned. Destiny starts playing like a shooter again.
Let your guns kick. Learn to control them. Or get clapped trying to walk in a straight line.
