I don't want to be forced to play with people. Often matchmade players impede progress and keep you from finishing bounties, quests, etc. Please give the option to disable matchmaking.

I know your post is old, Captain, but still so on point. I quit playing Destiny for this very reason--I'm tired of matchmade players who seem to feel that the only reason to engage in an activity is to finish it as fast as possible. I was hoping that Bungie had fixed it. Nope. Still a problem. No love for Lone Wolves ...
-
A solo strike option would be nice. Though I don’t think bounties are going to carry nearly as much weight going forward next season so it might not matter at this point.
-
100% Agree, great idea, for ALL activities, including raids. If you go into a matchmade raid, you go in expecting to have issues, but all problems can be solved. Just make raids that aren't crown of sorrow hard and everything will be fine.

It’s called a netduma. Its fun trying to solo escalation protocol
-
That goes against their policy of “Do not give the players freedom to do things”. Not gonna happen
-
So I'm guessing you're wanting to farm your quest steps/bounties. This is exactly the reason they implement matchmaking lol just put a fireteam together and do it.
-
Totally agree. I think it’s an option that you could turn on and off for ALL activities. Trails, raids, GM ordeals, everything. I have heard people say that there is no way matchmade raiders could succeed, etc, etc. I think it’s simply an option that could be added that would not hurt anything at all and give people options. People could still LFG if they wanted. Would just be a nice option.

I’m with you, it should be an option. I think the problem is that Bungie most likely is trying to force you into make progress on your bounties, quests, missions the intended way because of it’s difficulty. I think (and this is just my guess) that they almost disapprove or at least frown on shortcuts like (for example) loading into the Shuro Chi encounter in Last Wish by yourself just to farm catalyst kills. If they did ever give the option to disable matchmaking, my guess is that while mm is disabled any progress made wouldn’t count towards bounties or triumphs. It’s like loading into a private match in the crucible.. you can do it, but it won’t get you any closer towards completing that sweet new catalyst you just got.

I'm 50/50 on this one, people can grind out certain quest steps by turning off matchmaking and just run into a Lost Sector, which ruins the whole aspect of doing that quest. On the other hand I agree, some solo strike action would be pretty chill.

Edited by Yosemite Sam: 9/30/2020 11:25:56 PMIMO most activities should have optional matchmaking. The only problem I see where it wouldn't work is Trials and Raids. The rest of the game and even the seasonal content would work just fine. Edit: This is just my opinion and it doesn't matter if anyone thinks something is hard or not. These activities should have matchmaking. 1 The Shattered Throne, Pit of Heresy, Prophecy 2. The legend nightfall 3. All activities for the seasons. They did it with the first one, Vex Offensive so I see no reason at all they had to stop doing it with the rest of the seasons. They even do it with season events, like the Haunted Forest and the Solstice of Heroes, etc. 4. Heroic Menagerie 5. When creating things like EP, that should have been matchmaking and the activity should have been updated adding more challenges as you level up and rewards.
-
Easy. Make everything optional matchmaking. Haven’t players been asking for this since day 1
-
Just load Nightfall solo. If anything, we need more matchmaking.

I've got mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I do like the idea of being able to go into a strike solo or with a friend without playing with randoms. With that said, I think it is beneficial to have Matchmaking in some activities as a way to get the Destiny community to play together, it's one of the things that makes Destiny great. My fear is that if you offer a Firewall mode, players would use that exclusively and miss out on the multiplayer experience. This would be my compromise: 1. Rework the bounties for Strikes to be more generalized and gain progress from teammates. Example: Instead of getting 10 Rocket Launcher kills, change it to 30 Power Weapon "kills", fireteam kills count for 1, your kills count for 3. This would help alleviate the stress of trying to fight for kills in strikes. You can gain more progress by getting the kills yourself, but can also get them casually complete during strike gameplay. 2. Add a Firewall option for all strikes, but cut rewards by half. The reason for doing this is to allow the option to go solo for quests and bounties, but to encourage playing with others for general gameplay. As I was writing this, I had a thought. I think a better system for Strikes would be to go back to the Challenge system from Year 1, that way, everyone would have the same objectives by default and could work together to get those challenges complete. I think you could improve upon that system by having challenges for each strike that would correspond to rewards at the end of the strike. For example, maybe one of the challenges is to get 100 fireteam kills in the strike, this would give an incentive for the team to work together to get kills instead of just speedrunning through the strike. You could also add strike specific challenges that give rewards at the end of each strike. The strike playlist definitely needs to be improved overall.

More player choice is good, but it isn't the Bungie way.
-
I assume you are talking about strikes as I can’t think of another matchmaking activity that would cause you grief when completing bounties and quests. If so, I always use the legacy nightfall playlist if I want to focus on completing certain items solo. For nightfalls and nightmares, just bump up the difficulty to no matchmaking.
-
Sure. Why not. I wanna see all the complaints on the forums of people -blam!- about their experience in raids when bungie implements matchmaking for raids.
-
Every activity should have optional matchmaking..
-
Edited by zmach1: 9/30/2020 11:19:07 PMA great idea that Bungie apparently wants no part of. This is something that many of us have been wanting for a long time. 2 people doing strikes instead of 3 with matchmaking would be most welcomed.
-
Dude sometimes only one of my friends is on. And we would love to do strikes.... but we always get stuck with wannabe speed racers that run in and die

Its only an option for game modes that absolutely don't need it. Solo crucible Solo gambit. But not strikes...because...bungie. -
I don't want to be forced to play with people. Often matchmade players impede progress and keep you from finishing bounties, quests, etc. Please give the option to disable matchmaking.
They need to add Matchmaking for ALL activities before they can think about adding an option to disable and enable it.
-
Doing Strikes solo would be a blast. They won’t make them this way because Bungie knows we’ll farm the crap out of a single Strike.
-
For strike bounties, just free-roam and kill enemies not in the strike area, works wonderfully
-
You can set your clock back on PS4. Its not a perfect solution but it works. I hear you, though, I hate dealing with blueberries when getting strike bounties done. Screw em.
