Icarus dash can be used on the ground. Get good and learn to short hop and then use dash. You don't have to be 100 feet in the air to use icarus dash.

It’s an extra step vs the hunter dodge. It reloads also and breaks line of sight faster and more effectively.

 • You're missing the point that dodging is our class ability. No hunter is out there seriously asking for rift to be added to one of our skill trees. Without dodge's bonuses, dodge is only useful for getting to cover. It's absurd that you're asking for your extra ability that you have to be on par with a class ability and can use more often than hunters. As it is now, it doesn't take much more time to short hop dash than to dodge. The distance both go is the same, or farther with dash if you are higher is the air. And you ready weapons faster after dash than after dodge. No it doesn't need any buffs, you're lucky enough to even have it.

 • It’s better in general paired with the knuckle head. You are invisible and off radar hunting a big red blob. I went further and faster utilizing this exact tactic than any other class. I switched from a warlock to a hunter to do the Luna kills also. I redid more than 100 kills just to switch to a hunter build.

 • Invisiblity in destiny has always been awful. You can clearly see and shoot invisible hunters and you can hear when they go invisible.

 • I also play tactical button layout so it’s WAY harder to remove the thumb from the aim stick to jump then double click the stick. You stop aiming so way less effective than the hunter who can maintain aim WHILE dodging.

 • I'll admit i've never used dash in pvp, but i use puppeteer and it isn't difficult to short hop dash and aim. But that trade off is what you get for dash not being a class ability.

 • No disrespect and opinion is opinion. But play tactical and try and press A then B.B. Or A then double click the stick? It’s not smooth. You remove the aim for the split seconds needed to maintain a head shot or shotgun aim. It’s a huge bonus over the warlock that the hunter can dodge by JUST Double clicking the stick and keep aiming.

 • That's how puppeteer works. And again, dash isn't a class ability so it should not be on par with dodge.

 •
That's how puppeteer works. And again, dash isn't a class ability so it should not be on par with dodge.
Why not? Class balance. Warlocks are floaty and slow. They need buffs and that’s the WHOLE point in the post. Warlocks and pvp buffs. Top tree is great but still needs tweaking. Especially given how annoying it is to jump then activate the dash. #Makewarlocksviable

 • That's not class balance. Class balance is we all have our own class abilities that have uses that the other classes don't have access to, relatively speaking. If you want dash to be as good as dodge, then hunters, by your definition of class balance, deserve to summon rifts, so that we can do something that warlocks can.

 • Warlocks can’t reload and go invisible while dodging. They also DON’T get damage resistance on arc dodge. They also can’t dodge and throw a one hit throwing knife in crucible. Balance 101

 • You know have an exotic that gives you 15% damage resistance while airborne vs a 2 second dodge. Invisibility sucks. Hunter's can't heal on demand. You have an easy to use aoe ohk grenade.

You have an easy to use aoe ohk grenade.
It doesn’t though. It’s insanely good. The dodge is faster and you can land a head shot and disappear. Off radar and behind a wall. Why would you give up an exotic such as the steps or the aspects to float? The dodge is great but goes back to needing to jump and remove aim to float or dodge? Maps often dictate this as been useless due to ceiling size and sight lines anyway.

 • Dodge should be better, IT IS A CLASS ABILITY, not a bonus ability.

 •
Dodge should be better, IT IS A CLASS ABILITY, not a bonus ability.
It doesn’t mean they have to make dash slow or restrict its use to jumping and the air usage? Make it VIABLE. It’s not a hard concept. Same with warlock buffs in pvp. Make them viable and meaningful.

 • Dash is how it is currently as a tradeoff for not being a class ability, and it seems you fail to understand that.

 • Agree to disagree. Buff means buff. It’s not over powered by any stretch and making harder to activate isn’t a “trade off” it’s bad shooting mechanics. Console vs mouse / keyboard will know what I’m saying.

 • It's a tradeoff. You're not restricted to one use every 9 seconds at best, 20 at worst, so you can use it in the air or 1 inch off the ground.

 • Takes you off radar and I love the knuckle head. I got high in comp this season using the same method. Now tether is a one hit you can also actually kill people out of supers with a shot.
