We're not doing a great job as a community.

Admittedly, I've had my fair share of replies to trolls and jerks. That being said, can we take a step back for a second and look at the behaviors exhibited here on this forum? First of all, y'all are rude, self-centered, and negative. Your comments are inflammatory and hyper-critical. If anyone suggests that they don't like something about the base game, there's a really high chance of commentary saying they're shit or they're bad at the game or something of the sort. I can't imagine what someone starting their first bungie account to come be excited about Destiny with like-minded people would think. Picture being some 13-year-old kid and just wanting some advice about the game, so you come to a place where there are millions of players and you get this forum. How disappointing. Another point is the complaining, and it stems from the basic character of the players. Not which class y'all are using but who you are as people. Hard to swallow pill: a lot of you are toxic players complaining about the same behaviors you exhibit. Someone blasts you with a fusion and you quit, then you complain about quitters. You gripe about bad teammates but then you wander off by yourself and get mad that you can't clutch the unnecessary 1v3 you took on. These things are pervasive. They're common. Go read the way you talk to people, and then think about the impact it's having. People see toxic forum users, see abusive and rude forum meta, then they go and play/post/comment that way. It's no wonder you can't stand the people you're playing with. They're You. The thing is, this is really revealing about a culture of people. I don't know if it's gamers in general, F2P players, or Destiny players but it seems like y'all build the cesspit you're so mad about swimming in. You're rude to each other, overly defensive about things you do like, and overly critical about things you don't like. It's one big cluster -blam!- of rude ass people around here, and it's been bleeding into the game like sewage leaking into the foundation of a beautiful house. Sure, there are flaws. Sure, this is the internet and people are dicks here because they can hide their faces. That doesn't excuse shitting where you eat, and it certainly doesn't justify the way y'all talk to others. Freedom of speech is like any other freedom. There's a responsibility attached to it. The burden of freedom is, loosely, to consider the impacts of choosing action or inaction. Exercising that freedom here appears to have no immediate repercussions, but you're building an environment that's unsustainably negative and selfish. We're supposed to be teams here, we're supposed to be a community, and what we really look like is a bunch of rude assholes who really kind of suck as people. I don't expect you to change. I do expect trollishness and bullshit comments because it's the internet. I just thought you should know how bad you're making not only yourselves but the forum and the game look. From the outside, this 'community' looks like a stack of hypocrites with some severe issues. A bunch of selfish, mean spirited, and crass jerks who push each other down into the mud to feel like they're above someone else. I don't care how good your stats are, or how often you went to the lighthouse in D1. Out of the million+ members, 6 out of every 8 of you are awful people making other people's days and experiences worse for no reason. I'm kind of embarrassed to be associated with you, and it's no surprise the developers have put a little distance between themselves and this forum. I don't blame them. Y'all suck.
