You have to keep in mind a few things. Destiny's story was largely a last minute effort to get something out before the deadline because the story that was got scrapped late in the development cycle. So they basically just took what was made, and patched in some missions, and did a few cutscenes, and the grimior cards to make up for the non storyline. Of course they did manage to get some story into the game a little later, but most of the vanilla was just patchwork storytelling at best. Hopefully they won't have a repeat of this, and nobody knows if they will find a place to revisit old characters like the exo stranger or not.

  • You're right about the origin of the Vanilla Destiny story. But from what WAS there, one of the HUGE fan favorite questions was "Who is the Exo Stranger?" And Luke Smith said that they believe they've wrapped her story up well, as in, the story for her is done and we won't get anymore. Now, there's a really good fix if they don't know who she is, if they never really decided. There is Hunter armor in Destiny with flavour-text about rangers that helped citizens reach the Last City in safety, known as the Takanome Rangers. They set up safeguards along the city's refugee-roads with snipers and camo. Eventually the guardians took over for these rangers and it is said that that is how the first Hunters started. But there was one person that was at the forefront of these rangers, named Ayane Takanome. So we've got a Hunter like female, no defined race (so could be an Exo), that is a stealthy bad-ass without needing a ghost, and all they have to do is figure out how Ayane Takanome would have lived this long (which is easy as the Exo Stranger is a time-traveler). But instead they are saying that they basically just want to drop her. So my question is still relevant. If they drop lore now the way they are suggesting, how do we know they won't do it again? How can we get excited about the story that they're building now if they're just going to decide it was never relevant later? I can understand exploring and moving on, but if they're fine with leaving their fans with huge unanswered questions despite those fans pleading for the answers for 3 long years, purely because Bungie don't want to finish what they started, how do we trust them with future story?

  • Well I hope they don't just drop all the lore, and the tales from destiny one. I'm sure some of it may never come back up. Some such as the exo stranger had plenty of room to make a return, and we can get to know her more. I would actually like that.
