What is your take on the 2020 C8 Corvette?

I've known this mid-engined Corvette was in the works for quite a while now, and followed the stories about it whenever they came up. But since it officially released a couple weeks ago, I was wondering what / if any of you had anything to say about it yet.
The standard C8 is;

No outside testing has been done yet, so I don't know all the stats.
But for a $60,000.00 American made, Ferrari 'clone' sports car, I'm rather floored by the base line price tag. I know that when they release the serious models like future iterations of the Z06, maybe ZR1, and Gran Sport, there will be some serious numbers put up in both price and performance.
Being a Ford guy, and knowing that even getting a 2019-2020 Mustang GT new will get you north of $55,000.00 pretty quickly. It just seems to me that the base model Vette is surprisingly low priced.

Inexpensive performance to start, then they'll cam, intake, exhsust, tund and call it a day. I always loved the C3 (those curves!), hated the disco C4 snd was pretty "Meh" sbout the C5 & C6. The C7 is nice and, I feel, really did a good job of dispelling the idea of Corvettes being cheaply made. Local dealership where we picked up a Blazer a while back is slated to get 28 (!) C8s. I'll stop by and check 'em out when they artive, though I have no intention of buying one.

I imagine it’ll be an absolute handling monster with the weight distribution being mid-engined brings. Would love to drive one on a track, but alas, my current car is already pushing my budget to the limit with how much I sink into it 😂

I have a feeling that it will have serious build quality issues at that price. Maybe not huge transmission or engine problems, but at least the interior will be super cheap plastic stuff, and certain engine components will probably be made from inferior materials, sort of like when the manifolds on a lot of fords were made of plastic and guaranteed to give out around 80k-100k miles. It will be great while it’s still new, but fall apart quickly, probably being improved in later models at a higher price.

Vettes have always been budget friendly for what you get, but after seeing the repair bills my buddies who own them have racked up, I would never buy one. The thing is, it is not engine or transmission, though the clutches seem to have a short life, but it is all the cosmetic shit that keeps falling apart. Like one of my co-workers bought that last Corvette, the Stingray or whatever. He had to call corporate to get them to force the dealerships to take care of the stereo issues he was having and the car was not even a year old and had no mods done to it!

I like the C7 a bit more, and considering my first car was a mid-engine that was such a pain to get to anything. That isn't saying I wouldn't own one if I had the money. I'd be happy to have any Vette though.

It's $60k and it's less than the new Supra, Porsche Cayman, Porsche 911, and Acura NSX. It's also just a little bit cheaper than the current Camaro ZL1 and C7 Corvette Z06. I love the C8's design and having it mid-engine makes a lot of people go "hurrr it's not a real Corvette!" but most of those people are boomers with base model C6s that browse the Corvette Forum all day so who cares what they think. The only thing that raises an eyebrow is that big strip of all the buttons in the interior. Getting used to that is going to take a lot of time memorizing which buttons are where.

I saw two of them driving around town last week on my way home from work, and I have to admit, they look and sound amazing. Of course both of the guys driving them were middle aged white dudes just screaming mid-life crisis, but they did have some nice cars.

Looks interesting. I'm not a huge car guy, but I do like corvettes alot. Not a big fan of the single strip console thing going on in there though
