I would like PC more if I new what all the numbers and letters meant. But I have no idea whatsoever what my computer can handle. It's a bit off-putting.

>start >dxdiag >say no to checking digitally signed drivers Tell me what you see where it says processor, RAM, and you should know off the top of your head how muh HDD space you have Same window, go to Display and see wat card you have under Device Chances are that if it's a pre-built from HP for example, it sucks

Modifié par Bandi : 11/25/2013 12:14:54 AM
Processor: Intel Core i7-3840QM CPU @ 2.80GHz (8CPUs), ~2.8Ghz
Intel Core Processors are arguably the best, the i7 processors being the highest tier of the cores (there's i3, i5, and i7) It has been said that i7's are typically overkill, but it's all on what you prefer; it's been noted though, that i5's don't perform marginally less than i7's 2.80 Ghz is the speed in which your core processes, and 8CPU's is the number of logical cores your processor has, so think of it as eight C+ students working on a math project involving an inhuman length equation The 3840 part is basically the model of the i7 you have, typically certain models give more speed per core
Memory: 16384MB RAM
This roughly translates to 16GB of RAM, RAM is basically the amount of "space" your computer has to multitask on any given "project", the more space you have, the better it can multitask without running out of space
Device MAD Radeon HD 7970M
This is your GPU, which is basically what allows you to play nice looking games, this is the piece here that shits on consoles HD is self explanatory, Radeon is the manufacturer of the card, and 7970 is the model number of the card 7 - model line 9 - "power level" (if you will) of your card (8 and above is recommended for gaming) 70 - Wattage consumption (idk if its actually 70 watts or if 70 is a certain rating of power consumption ranging on a scale of 10 - 90 that counts by 10's) M - mobile variant This information is in no way 100% accurate but it should give you a concept

Wow.. This.. actually makes it easier to understand. I've been trying to learn what the different parts are of a computer (for games, more or less) but I had no idea where to start. Thanks for making it legible :b

You are very welcome If you have any other questions feel free to ask any time
Alienware
You enjoy paying for brand labels?
-
I enjoyed paying for the lights. And yes, I am very stuck up when it comes to brands. Not in this particular instance, however. It was just my favorite computer aesthetics-wise.
-
I pity you.
