Destiny has pushed me away from what was a great game

Since the time I discovered Destiny 1 many years ago, I have literally loved to log in and play Destiny, either 1 or 2. The challenges, the graphics the incredible attention to detail for a game has always been something I had looked forward to. And now that forced retirement has come, this had been an enjoyable daily routine for me. For the record, I am nowhere near the skill levels that some of the Guardians have and what a joy it was to join up with them on occasion and reap the rewards. But no longer. My playtime has dropped noticeably since the horrible idea of the portal was implemented. My perception is that much of the game play has turned its focus toward the high skill level folks and left people like me behind. The sharp break from the old format of bounties, raids and strikes as ways to increase your power and success has left the game almost split into two. While the portal with its intense game play holds the rewards now along with Kepler as a new "world", it is virtually divorced from all the old worlds that remain but seem to be there just to fill the space. Playing on the old worlds is still fun but lacks the attractiveness and draw that used to bring me there. And playing in the portal is often a frustrating experience with the timed rewards helping to take away the enjoyment that was once there and adding to the white knuckle tension that is just too much. Not sure what you guys were thinking with what has happened but thanks for the memories as I have had to start looking elsewhere a LOT more often for enjoyment without stroke potential. It's time to let go of the game. Because it isn't coming back. First. It's an old game. On an old tired engine. PVP is still running on P2P, that was what COD4 was running on in 2007. It takes forever to do or change anything in it. Look at the menus and how convoluted everything is .. changing a character is a good example because that should be a couple of button pushes. Instead we're in and out of menus all the time. Shader menu is an unorganised mess. Collections have multiple versions of the same weapon. Having to search through collections every time you get something to stop annoying blinking. It's a chore. The granny oven is still there from The Dawning. The screen glitch when you arrive in orbit, at least on PS5. Look at all the stuff in the known issues list and how long some of them have been there. The power level is pointless thanks to the power deltas. The Portaloo is almost universally hated. This was done to provide a certain number of activities with the Tier 5 gear that we are supposed to care about. Difficulty ramped up, tedious modifiers, the current reward for the Grandmaster Alert is a pulse Rifle from the Dreaming City. That was put into the game almost six years ago. I could go on and on. And I used to love this game but now, just can't be bothered. If Bungie cared it wouldn't take four months for a roadmap. Gambit would be worthwhile. Dares would give you better loot than 300 armour with 50 stats. We would have worthwhile activities for good loot instead of yet another horde mode with the same mechanics we always get for another reskinned or refreshed weapon we grinded for already. Look at arms week, bows we already have. No thanks. Meanwhile Iron Banner has gone the way of the story, it's just not there and it's probably never going to be. I would love it if this game made a miraculous comeback. But it won't. Almost everyone is gone from the Final Shape. Look at the numbers, they say it all. Look at the list above. Now look at Eververse and the constant stream of overpriced tat Bungie seemingly have no problem producing while their game circles the drain. It was a good run. But Destiny has had it's time.
