Hi there,
Thank you for your detailed report.
We understand you've been experiencing consistent stuttering in Destiny 2. We're sorry to hear of this, as we can imagine the impact this may have had. While we realize you have tried a fair amount of troubleshooting, have you tried clearing the Steam download cache? This can sometimes help to improve the performance of games running through Steam.
We also understand, from what you've written, that the stuttering worsens in activities involving many players. This may indicate a connectivity issue. You may wish to see whether Optimizing Connections helps to alleviate some of this stuttering you describe.

Ive recently been having an issue like this, but I was able to solve it by disabling the steam overlay, if that helps give any leads on what may be causing it

Yeah, this isn't it. As many other have said, there was a patch that temporarily fixed it for a bit, and then it came right back. Playing the Altars event was borderline torture and it caused me to just stop playing it overall. Actually have been cutting my playtimes extremely short and barely playing at all because of the performance issues.
-
The removal of exclusive full-screen has tanked performance for many players since the Edge of Fate release. The game is borderline unplayable due to all the microstuttering. Turning on V-sync helps a bit, but the stutters persist. Someone on the PC Dev should seriously take a closer look and just look over the frametime graph during gameplay. There have been forum posts after forum posts on this issue, and it's shocking this hasn't been acknowledged yet.

I second this. Bungie fix this -blam!- problem already.

Its your trash servers. So tired of players coming here for help and you pin your cheap horrible network issue on them. Stop lying to your playerbase and fix this horrible game experience in pvp and pve. Clean up your mess Bungie and actually help

Hi, it's your servers, your backend system. Only 9.0.0.8 update had this thing almost fixed 99% of the time, anything after that has gotten worse.. Also yesterday's backend optimizations didn't do anything.. Jitter frame pacing remains when moving across the map with enemies spawning etc, or sometimes near other players. this was my post from few weeks ago.. its still very much relevant. "Yes this started again 2-3weeks ago. They finally fixed it for some , me incl. with 9.0.0.8 update, but now its back again. this is how it looks like, driver forced vsync 144Hz. Pay attention to fps in upper right corner, few times it goes above 144HZ limit too. And some random 110-120fps drops inbetween.. https://youtu.be/hTt6pov4DGs https://youtu.be/963v3F65uQ8 my dxdiag, pastebin https://pastebin.com/gLVYvfH8 " also, I think there might be nvidia Reflex issue, when I had it set to on + boost I lost 10-20 fps, but overall the game has gotten a lot more cpu bound with choppy gameplay.

I can concur with TheHunter, the spoken update almost fixed the microstutter, but after that it just got worse. And no its not the Steam Cache or our network connection. The game is badly optimized after Edge of Fate launched and changing the fullscreen window mode. Switch to DX12 and the problem should be gone. And please Bungie finally commit to this issue, its been months now.

Modifié par Dragon : 10/29/2025 7:24:55 PMIf any one from the bungie technical team is reading this. It is not a network issue there is an non network related optimization problem causing these stutters. I have 1 gig internet connected through ethernet and speed test.net confirms that jitter is low enough for online games. I don't have this issue in any other games that have come out this year from battlefield 6 to Call of duty please look into this.

Thank you for your response. I have deleted the steam cache multiple times but that doesn’t seem to fix the issue. I also tried the running the game while signed out of steam friends list which many other players recommended but this didn’t fix the issue. I should also mention I am using a high speed ethernet connection with around a gigabyte speed. When playing I don’t notice any network lag and my inputs are responsive and I don’t experience consistently high latency. Again other games I play like Fortnite, arc raiders, arena breakout infinite do not suffer from any stuttering or network lag.
