Hear me out, we lose then a D3 is released in 4-5 years.
If I could define the story now in one word the word would be “Child” and the reason I use this word is because it just feels so silly.
It feels so goofy, no real meaning, the villains are laughable, no real stakes, just underwhelming.
I think a really and I mean really dark story for D3 would do wonders, or maybe D3 is when the golden age happened then the darkness came around.
I’ve always complained the story wasn’t dark enough, but this is my own personal opinion.

Modifié par MC 077 Lasombra : 1/16/2025 2:12:49 AMCause they retconned the story into garbage. That’s what happens when you take a premise that requires a definite end and make it unending. Light and Dark were originally the same power, Darkness was merely corrupted Light. That’s where Ulan-Tan’s Symmetry comes in. To stop the Darkness we’d need to sacrifice our Light. That’s where the Darkness Guardians, civil war (the drifter and aunors cut off storyline) and other narrative aspects were meant to drive the story instead of who’s sleeping with who nonsense. And that’s what the name “Destiny” was about. By removing the power from the cosmos, after eliminating all the threats that required it to stop them, we put everyone’s“Destiny” back into the hands of normal people without some unfair juiced up godlike being monkeying things up.

We didn't have to lose for them to make another game. We didn't have to lose to have a dark story in the next game, assuming they make one.
We Should Have Lost In TFS
Oh don’t worry, if you’re still playing this game in 2025 you are definitely a loser.
-
Nah. The witness needed to go so the winnower could step forward.
-
I’m all for darker stories but if we lost in TFS we wouldn’t be getting any stories. I think branching out into entirely unknown settings and characters without the usual supports to fall back on could be a dope place to bring back that sort of tone.

We should have lost in lightfall The sky black with pyramids, the new tower Xivu Araths throne , infact she should have personally kicked the wall down, while laughing, "So these are the cowards who felled the mighty Oryx, a victory they did not deserve!!, feast on every last one untill there is nothing left!!!" There should have been Cabal,Eliksni&Guardians fighting back to back in a losing battle against billions of Taken,Hive and Scorn , giving there lives to buy time to evacuate Civilians Most NPCs should have died, to make it hit home just how much was lost Then we limp to Neptune with has many survivors has we could save, to start planning how to retake Earth and save the Traveler

I think before we lose, we need to find out what makes us (the Guardian) special. I know the Warframe-Destiny comparison is getting annoying for people, but one of the things the former does well is answer the question: Who are we, and why are we the center of every conflict?

We are going to lose. The collapse always happens. It matters how we lose. Setting up for a soft reset in Apollo.

No essential characters have ever died in any meaningful fashion since Cayde. . The poor writing really drives a lack of attachment, further compounding retention issues.

I’m glad they put the old story to bed. They need to move things in a different direction. Players loved onslaught because tons of enemies were funneled into narrow passages so we can use builds and weapons to slay out. Total fun. New DLCs should use that format in missions. We could travel to a new system and build a city with multiple towers and experience something reminiscent of the battle of six fronts. They also need to make the next villain ridiculously evil.

I think a few bad things should've happened in The Final Shape to show just how big the stakes were like some patrol zones should've been changed a little bit to show the effects of the Witness trying to finalize everything. Some characters should've died too like Ikora,Petra,Devrim(Edz vendor) and Osiris. The only bad thing that happened was Zavala loosing his ghost,We lost our ghost only to have it revived about a minute later. The expansion ended like it was an easy battle for everyone.

Bungo caters to kids with mom's credit card today. The story isn't meant to be engaging past the 5 minutes you spend listening to it or playing it. If you want better story, go watch an adult movie.
