Destiny is your flagship game, which is currently on life support.
What are you going to do when Marathon flops and Destiny is still in the same state it's in? How do you plan on revitalising this game big time?

All I know about Marathon is that it’s supposed to be a pvp extraction shooter. I assume it will be cross-play. As a console player, I have zero interest in playing a primarily pvp game vs PC opponents. No way. Wouldn’t touch it for free.

Devs Devs Focus on the original Destiny and not whatever "D2" is supposed to be!!!! -
Didn’t you hear? Marathon is gonna have dedicated servers, and a renewed focus on PvP, and SRL, and it’ll do your taxes, and walk your pets, and babysit your offspring, and tell your boss you’re taking leave, and propose to that person you had a huge crush on in High School but never got up the courage to ask out (you know, the one you totally saw yourself making a happy life with but were too scared or busy to take a chance on), and it’ll-

Gotta move on eventually.

6 commentairesDestiny has ran its course at this point, and to be honest Marathon probably isn’t going to go well either, mainly because of it being an extraction shooter.

Modifié par magister1001 : 8/8/2024 10:29:16 PMIt’s probably too late. Normally it’s the other issue where companies (Kodak, blockbuster, blackberry) don’t shift away from their current moneymaker to the new trend. Seems horrifically incompetent leadership. They should have doubled and triple down on destiny. New engine for d3, books, tv shows, huge support for d2 content etc. That money has all been wasted and pissed up against the wall.

Like many comments said it may be too late to shift resources from Marathon but.. ... maybe Marathon can shift its focus to be more like Destiny.. (PVE and PVP type gameplay.. with its own flavor) ...if its got the new tech and flexibility the devs need.. this could be interesting.. if successful it can be a stepping stone for D3 3-5 years from now.. (can't imagine this is the case with an extraction shooter only.. [crazy choice] but I'm interested to at least view the gameplay and see if they adjust the offering)
What are you going to do when Marathon flops and Destiny is still in the same state it's in? How do you plan on revitalising this game big time?
They don't, they will just keep doing what they have been doing for the last few years. They will just have the "Destiny 2 teams" make a fluff TWAB and as usual, most of you will take the bait as you always do. The question should be, why do you keep taking the bait???

Let them finish off the studio. You saw all the incubator projects. Do you really think there is something to save?

3 commentairesIf Marathon flops, Bungie is done. Marathon has to be the priority.
-
2 commentairesYeah, too little too late. TFS was a good DLC, but not good enough to erase the taste of Lightfall, layoffs, finding out D3 was never even started, Bungie starting a bunch of projects it never intended to finish to sell better to Sony, years of recycling everything to save on development costs, years of lying about where the Eververse money goes…let’s not forget this is still the same company that bragged about underdelivering while raising prices. Now everyone is shouting requests at Bungie to fix the game, but they don’t have the ability to institute these things. Pete and the management care about reducing costs to preserve their bonuses, they’re not going to reverse course and start letting the devs make things better.
-
Yeah never run a business bro, marathon has too much invested in it to just be scaled back,
-
It's so funny that people just assume Marathon will be bad solely because they want it to be. The reality is if they canned Marathon right now, those "assets" wouldn't go to Destiny 2. They'd likely be fired or moved to SIE.

Destiny has been the focus for 10 years now it’s time to move on 👍🏻 As you can see with marathon they are catering to pvp sweats like me no pve casuals to forced sbmm in marathon 😂 -
Launching a “new” IP is always a risk, but having all the eggs in the Destiny basket is also a risk. D2 needs a lot of investment to breathe fresh life into it — a lot of players have done it to death and it’s tricky enticing new players into a 7 year old game. I’m more excited to see something new from Bungie, whether that’s Marathon, or D3 in the more distant future.

2 commentairesIt's no longer up to the Bungie devs (and probably hasn't been for 2 years). Sony is calling the shots. I highly doubt Sony has any plans for "revitalizing" D2 under Bungie's banner. Any revitalization will come with Sony's name at the top. They have in-house ways to exploit Destiny's IP that Bungie could only dream of.

Ok boss 👌🏻

Modifié par The Hermit IX : 8/8/2024 12:38:39 AMIt’s too late. They have too much invested into to Marathon and a release deadline in 2025. So the majority of the people will be getting it done. That ship has sailed and it’s why they’re going with smaller content drops next year for D2. All of this stuff was planned well ahead of the FS including the layoffs and focusing on getting Marathon to launch.
-
1 commentaireIf marathon flops hard that's gonna mean more layoffs in an attempt to lower spending and at that point Sony might just shut it all down. Those in charge have dug a very deep pit at this point. Sony really shouldn't have brought bungie it was a bad investment

4 commentairesModifié par A_mo : 8/7/2024 11:27:07 PMMaybe its best to try starting from "scratch" so some of the downsides that emerged over the course of Destiny being out don't get repeated. Have you seen the solstice stage that we no longer explore and it looks like someone's personal value system was plastered all over it?
