You can’t compare anything to OG D1. D2 has not recreated in me an awesome feeling I had in D1. Still a great game, Most likely D3 will blow us away technically, but that great feel of D1 will never be replaced in my eyes by anything. The community was better back then. Now we have effing toxic elite always crying about casuals. Not even close. D1 will always stay the greatest. The Taken King had not been beaten by anything in D2. In my opinion.

The reason D1 felt better was because you were a decade younger with fewer responsibilities. Rose colored glasses. D2 is the superior game up and down in every way. In no universe is a game with mantle worse than essentially the same game without mantle.

I think d2 is baseline a better game, but d1 was new, with no real competition to engender that same feeling. Kinda reminds me if playing old 360 games that left an impression, we have objectively better games now, but they don't give you the same feeling. I'd usually chalk that up to a me thing, but the philosophy and environment was different back then.

Totally right. I think it's important to acknowledge that sequels are not going to give that new feeling. So if someone is just chasing that new feeling, they will always inevitably be disappointed in sequels.

d1 destinations felt compacted with meaning with a certain meaningful mystery that you wanted to explore more, d2 destinations felt open and empty with no purpose of being there it was get what you need and go feeling and don't comeback.

Definitely speaking for yourself on that one. Vanilla D1...awful time.

Yeah, of course, this is just my opinion. As much as I love D2 my heart for Destiny was sunsetted with D1.

D3 is never coming. Get that out of your head.

Modifié par policzanin539 : 8/4/2024 5:25:51 PMI know that. There is always a chance, most likely not. I just threw D3 into conversation to make my point about D1 being still the greatest no matter what Bungie cooks or not. We are at the end. I realize that. And I am OK with that as well.

Honestly felt Destiny was at its best during Rise of Iron and when they renewed the old raids and year 1 weapons. Sorta wish Rise of Iron was its own big DLC rather than a small story but boy have I got great memories of it, especially Wrath of the Machine which was my favourite raid ever.

Of course, this was the ending of Destiny 1 and they put everything into it. Even PvP was great. I was going up from my deep hole in KD during that time. But for me The Taken King will always equal D1. I think I had the most fun ever in Destiny. Period. Court of Oryx was one of the best activities for me. Just the whole aura of Oryx story. I know Bungie was trying to recreate in Witch, but her brother still rules. Savathun was 👍 but the aura of the danger and the powerful alien being was gone for me. She left like an assignment, Oryx felt like the end of the world was coming. Trickster vs. Raw power. Nothing like it.

It’s a controversial take, and we wouldn’t have gotten there without The Taken King. But Rise of Iron was better imo.
