Bungie is absolutely obsessed with engagement. Streamers increase engagement. Keeping streamers happy by making them feel less irrelevant than they actually are is a part of Bungie’s business model. That’s not going to change anytime soon.
Bungie created a fantastic sandbox with Destiny, and in general is really good at creating content. As a live service Bungie is pretty bad. As a business Bungie is bottom tier. They’ve been passed around so many times to different publishers because they’re so awful. They have a built in player base from their excellent sandbox and content, so that brings them value. However a competent developer and company would’ve turned that sandbox and content into the most popular game in the world. Bungie fumbled that bag at least half a dozen times.
