I have a friend who might be very interested in this discussion. I will endeavour to get him to reply here, even if it means forcing him to play destiny to post!
For the record I very much see the points you making and after playing the game myself... Surviving is very easy to do... Since water never goes bad and I can salt all the fish anyway and I have an unlimited supply of health packs.
I just suck at exploring! Said friend can agree....

You don’t even need to salt the food. Uncooked fish never goes bad, and you can just stick a Fabricator in your Cyclops. During my run I had 3 closets on my Cyclops, each one was almost full of food, water, and health packs respectively. The “bad at exploring” problem can be solved with beacons, though. I had, like, 14 of them.

Had no clue and thanks for the tips. I just have such a difficult time finding the things I want to scan like the multipurpose room, submarine and what not. I move and learn things at such a snail's pace in the game 😔.

Just remember Fragments are biome locked. If you find one in an area you’re likely to find another of the same type nearby. Most of the important Fragments can be found by exploring wrecks, too. The multipurpose room in particular has locked spawn points. You’ll find it by following distress signals.

Ah. Thank you again!I wonder if I should build a massive tunnel base that stretches as far as I can. I hope the Sandbox game can live up that.
