You ever hear of The Long Dark? I’ve played it a bit, and I think it does almost everything well.

I’ve played a little bit of it. I never got too deep into it, though. I’m not necessarily looking for a new survival game in general, though. I’m interested in Below Zero specifically because; A. I like the sci-fi aesthetic on a survival game. Don’t see that too much. B. I want muh submarines.

Never played myself, but I think they made diamond and lithium harder to get from what I’ve heard, but the item discovery can be a bit scuffed too. Like, endgame story pieces before depth module’s. It has space penguins though, so that’s about 95% of the game for me.

Eh, that doesn’t really address the issue in the thread, though.
-
Yeah, I’m not your guy for that. I’ve hardly played the first one outside of making research stations in creative.

I'd say it's probably good enough for a legit playthrough one day. One thing Subnautica does really well that a lot of other survival games don't is it gives you a very clear sense of progression (for the most part), so you're constantly moving forwards. I also like how all three submarines still have their uses, even at the endgame; there's no "better Seamoth" for example. I also think it's the only survival game I've seen with such a focus on vehicles. The majority of the game is about you building & upgrading your various submarines, which is a pretty neat take on a survival game. If there was a version of Subnautica that was, y'know, actually hard, then it might even give Don't Starve a run for its money! Even as is, though, it's a really nice game to chill to.

They deleted like, 2/3’s of the subs in Below Zero to my knowledge. The seamoth and cyclops are both rolled into the Seatruck. Prawn’s still there, and a hover bike for land.

Well, Cyclops is kinda the worst one, so fusing it with the Seamoth--the best one--might not be that bad, depending how they handle it. Also keeps the game fresh, so we're not just walking the same motions. But meh, I'm mostly just wondering if they solved the resource management issue. I'm surprised you're the only one who's stopped by the thread, actually. I know at least a while back there were a bunch of Subnautica players here, and I was expecting one of them to be able to answer that. Oh well. Cult of the Lamb comes out soon, anyway, so I'll probably be preoccupied with that.
