Crucible tokens were worthless because of a lack of any worth while gear associated with the tokens. They were only good for bypassing the tedious seasonal light grind - something that should be ELIMINATED.
In Beyond Light, crucible tokens could no longer increase our light. This was unnecessary and disrespectful to our time investment in the game.
Now, instead of putting in gear worthy of the tokens we’ve amassed - and mind you Bungie, you’re the reason we’ve amassed tokens - Bungie is double downing on their disrespect towards Guardians by trashing the tokens rather than making them worthwhile to trade it.
This is “beyond” ridiculous.
Bungie, the onus is on your as the developer to put gear in the game that is worth our tokens.
Edit: because numerous people have responded on the basis of the merits of a token system and the new system being “better,” I am posting this universal response.
My post has NOTHING to do with whether the token system is good or or bad, or whether it should be changed.
It is a fact that the token system exists, for years it has been worthless, and rather than putting some value into the tokens, Bungie systematically decreased their worth.
Now Bungie has a problem. Plenty of people have tokens left unused because there was no good gear to trade in for. Rather than provide worthwhile gear to trade in for. Bungie’s solution is to force everyone to trash their tokens or turn them in for “trash.”
Everyone, in a looter shooter, should have a problem with the fact that the tokens can’t be traded in for anything worth having for years and Bungie taking the easy way out, by not creating gear worthwhile to trade in for.
Until this season the vendors had the same gear for almost 2 years. This is why people have tokens stored. Bungie created this problem of the excess tokens by not refreshing vendors and now is going to just trash the tokens. This is disrespectful to all players regardless of whether the tokens were easy to acquire or not, and regardless of whether the system is good or not.

The past is the past, Bungie doesn't care how much time you put in before today. They don't value it, that isn't making them a dollar today. The only time the past is useful is when they can use nostalgia to inspire warm feelings to get us to buy stuff now.

It's D2Y1 in 2024. Such a terrible time! - ancien
You can't be serious. -
Bungie doesn't like players too hoard, and they also dont like players to earn lots of rewards. That's why they are removing tokens and changing they way the vendor ranks work. The better question is, will Iron Banner tokens go away and will we get rewards for the in-between ranks. Twab only mentioned that at 5 ranks we will get rewards.
-
watch Bungie make a last minute global/live event about turning the tokens in after everyone spent their tokens.
-
Or you can stop your pointless whinging, cash in the tokens, scrap what you don't want and get Shards and Cores while you have the chance.
-
It’s going to take me weeks to hand in all my tokens. I have like 20k for both vanguard and crucible. This sucks. If I wasn’t so Jewish and didn’t mind letting things go to waste I’d just let them go to waste but I can’t do that. Turning in all these tokens is going to be boring and suck ass. At the very least bungie should quickly add in a feature that would let us hand in multiple stacks at once to help speed up the process a little bit.

Modifié par an Ape with a d2 addiction : 1/15/2021 11:46:50 AMUseless until the end. Least they were consistent? What a looter shooter. +1 year of playing basically for the experience itself. Though it's good bungo's trying to fix a dysfunctional system, would've been nice to see a less painful transition.
-
This is pretty much the Bungie way, they put out something crap and instead of making it worthwhile, they say no one used it so they're removing it. Look at Trials of the Nine, Factions etc etc.

That "trash" is a perfect way to make free shards. Even if you have more shards than you know what to do with, having more is never a bad thing. But honestly, unless you're just hyper-grinding this game, the token thing isn't even an issue. It's a video game that's still being updated, still being changed. You can't expect ANYTHING to be permanent. You also can't expect the company to make every right choice, every single time. They're gonna make mistakes, or do things you dislike. Instead of investing so much of yourself into the state of the game that changes to it drive you to the same levels of passionate protest as a hippie riot in the 60s, then maybe you need to take a step back and admit that you need something more in your life than Destiny 2.

Modifié par Whopping Dingers : 1/16/2021 10:10:21 AMI dunno I'm sitting on 24000 and can't wait to just dump them into shards. The new rank up system looks a lot better and worth while. However, if they really wanted to add some worth they should have done the rank up system with a rotating weekly guns and armour offering. Edit: it took me around 2 hours to hand all those in.
-
I cashed in nearly 4000 and literally did not get one weapon or armour piece I kept.
-
Took me 2 hours to turn in 10000 yesterday. All crap. 15000 to go.
-
Bungie gives us a month to turn in tokens that we've been saving since the start of D2. That's straight up disrespectful.
-
Does anyone know whether all tokens will be removed or only from certain sellers? Will the Iron Banner tokens be removed?
-
Remember when you got a faction to level 100 in D1 and got an exotic mark/bond/cloak? That would give me a reason to spend my dimes. But it's not gonna happen, so I'll sit on my 22,000 gunsmith materials and 10,000 vanguard tokens.

Modifié par Emurinus : 1/16/2021 5:33:42 AMMeanwhile people are still sitting on hundreds-thousands of Weapon Telemetry and/or Pure Matterglass Lens that've been useless since they were introduced and somehow survived the initial inventory purge.

I believe that the token system is terrible because people were capable of getting around 12k token and just sit there complain why there is not much vault space. But that's my thoughts on it
-
Nope, this is a great change. The D1 reputation system was so much better dude. It made getting vendor weapons at reset so much more of a fun experience. Give this system a try.

The new system is better. -
Will save inventory space, and the new rank up system looks better than the current system. Can't really make it so turning them in is beneficial because then people who have amassed a stockpile of them will complain because they acquired all the new content right away.
-
I’m glad they are finally getting rid of tokens... it was a shit system from the very start of the game!
-
I mean to be fair, people on this forum have been asking to have tokens removed for years now
-
Turning them in is a tedious process and needs to get streamlined .
-
One hundred percent this! You took the guns. You took the paid for content. And now your final disregard for your longtime suffering players? You're taking our tokens. Re-earn these guns a fifth time. Bungie, you are a sad ffffing joke. No.
-
Any time have have accumulated currency as proof of their work Bungie will move to devalue it instead of making them feel rewarded. Middle Finger development philosophy.
