It is super annoying trying to get a catalyst done and have the progress seemingly not track properly only to find out that the catalyst was not properly worded and missing info.
Example: Polaris Lance.
The Polaris Lance tells you that you need to get Kills with “the Perfect Fifth Explosion”, when in actuality it only tracks them as kills when they die from the Burn damage caused by the explosion.
With Exotics, and perks in general, make sure that the wording is clearly defined so that people understand what they are using and are not confused as to why something is seemingly not working as it says it should.
Example: Mask of the Quiet One.
This Exotic states, “When critically wounded, regain maximum health in kills”. To 95+% of the player base, on the first read this is understood as gaining your entire healthbar back on a kill while critical. However, it really means that you regain that 1/3 of your bar that is actually health and not your shields. That is an important distinction that many players, especially newer ones, are not going to be familiar with.
Just something to put out there to make the experience a little more streamlined and less frustrating for people. Vague wording is one of the most annoying things in the game at times because of how much times is wasted as a result of a miscommunication.

Modifié par Ingilybob : 10/26/2020 6:53:18 PMOh man,the amount of time spent on the Leviathan farming those Cabal on the bridge for perfect fifth burn kills... Had to be specifically 1 headshot and one body shot I think? So they had just enough hp left to die from the burn damage. Tedious as hell.
-
The Polaris Lance catalyst was such a pain in the ass to finish. There was (and maybe still is) a very specific set of circumstances in the Castellum that made sure you got a guaranteed count on the progress, but even that was a slog.
-
Mask of the quite one is technically correct. Health is the red bar if I’m not mistaken and shields are the white bar.
-
I shall add that the percentage nonsense needs to go. If its 250 or 500 kills...just say so.
-
What's fun is when they use jargon or slang when describing an effect, such as on Wormhusk. What the hell is a "small health and shield bump" to someone who doesn't understand slang terms for a tiny recovered amount? Sometimes, Bungie words things in a way that only make sense if you already know what it does, and if you already know what it does, you don't need it explained to you anyway. They really need to do a clarity pass on a lot of things, not just catalyst requirements.
-
It's kinda Bungie Style to give bad, wrong or no description for their game. Sad but True. This game has the worst descriptions i've ever seen in a game.
-
Isn't ambiguity one of Bungie's favorite go to moves?
-
Alot of the polaris lance kills don't even count. I did the lost sector on mars to complete it...Shooting the ground near the acolytes and thrall and letting them explode. Would get at least 10 explosion kills each run but only counted about 2 each time. I couldn't have been the only one.
-
Vagueness and lack of clarity is the Bungie way.. 1st step on Sleeper Catalyst: SG 0% SR 0% SMG 0% Okay so I figured out that SG means shotgun, but more specifically the Ikelos shotgun SR means sniper rifle but more specifically the Ikelos sniper And SMG means get kills with the Ikelos smg... but why not just say that? Why abbreviate and remain vague on the description?
-
I think the mask of the quiet one is pretty clear enough. It’s just that the UI displays health and shield in one continuous bar with no distinction of between the two. Some people don’t even know there is a difference.
-
Another thing is the strikes quest this season which doesn’t explicitly say the points are from nightfalls, which caused some confusion early on.
-
Sorry, this post is not clear, could you add more text to help clear it up?
-
What do you mean? Worldline Zero's Catalyst perfectly helps you.
-
Yea and it doesn’t help that unlocking the catalyst can be finicky as hell

Modifié par Dark Harvest : 10/26/2020 5:28:52 PMRegarding PLance, also doesn't help that none of it's perks even so much as imply the existence of the burn damage. Basically get 50 kills with something that doesn't technically exist. A+ for game design! Edit: This screw up would be like Thorn's catalyst wanting kills with MoTD, but doesn't tell you that you need to get 5 stacks on the enemy for it to count nor does it say it needs the Soul Devourer buff. Edit 2: Assuming a video I watched- I don't know how long ago was right, Thorn will get +20 range and +30 stability, though of course that's subject to change. I remember Cerberus for example was supposed to get +20 of both, but got a mini shotgun with an effective range of melee distance, or how Black Talon was supposed to get more ammo, but got Reversal instead. I wouldn't be surprised if they either increased the duration of MoTD or SD instead.

The wording is accurate enough as it is.To not understand something, you need to have a specific mindset or lack of it.
-
It is exact wording. The firefly type explosions happen after the original target bites the dust. I agree 100% that we need precise wording for these though.
-
I mean mask of the quiet one isn't exactly worded wrong or poorly
-
To be fair, Mask of the Quiet one is technically completely accurate. Because like 2/3rds of that bar are shields.
-
How do you feel about the Worldline Zero catalyst description?

This is a good post.

Modifié par Knox Knox : 10/25/2020 4:21:15 PMI sense what you are saying here. Bungo using the Donkey brain again?. . . Do you know the other name for Donkey?. . . I'll give you a hint, it starts with the letter "A". . . Yep, that could only be attributed to one thing . . . Bungie Logic!
