Its a great move Bungie and this is the stuff the community wants to see. When Luke Smith's grand vision is a rotating meta thats cool and all, but the game [b]WILL[/b] suffer due to its RNG nature. Events like this give the community outlets to deal with the RNG nature of exotics while giving us ample upgrade resources for armor/weapons that is or going to phase out. While sunsetting is not a popular topic(I dont like it myself) this type of event should be adapted to the seasonal model.
