I urge you all to consider contributing to destiny wikis.

For the sake of the traveller I urge you all to think about the abhorrent and honestly, embarrassing state which the Destiny 2 wikis are in. What other game can you think of requires you to get 90% of your information from Eurogamer and Youtube videos which milk our eyeballs for all they're worth? Honestly, it's bad enough that we can definitely take blame as a community for the disappointing state which our Wikis are in. The whole community without a question is to blame. Ever since I was new to this game I was always stunned that this game, of all games had a nonexistent wiki community and not just that, 3 different similarly popular ones. All I know is that Minecraft has what is possibly the most detailed and exhaustive Wiki on the goddamned planet. I think that the way the wikis are now is that they just look and feel so bare that it's hard for anyone to make a dent. What we should look for is to establish a healthy Wiki community, and that begins by actually having content on the Wiki. I believe, as the Wikipedia founder sort of described once, he said something along the lines of there's only fewer than some 10 percent of people you can really consider hardcore contributors, probably massively overquoting here, but a large portion of wiki contributions come from the 90 percent of people who just browse occasionally. I have three points. I would suggest that even the smallest dents, such as creating pages that don't exist- imagine if Lord Shaxx's page didn't exist in the wiki- will help people warm to the Wikis. The wikis look like a barren wasteland which people avoid. A simple job of creating pages or adding small scraps of information do help make the wikis appear more welcoming and make contribution a more pleasant process for everyone. I suggest the most up-to-date content should come first. I have challenge: If you have a title (seal), for each seal you have, go take your favorite one thing from that seal and add information to it on a Wiki. I have Cursebreaker... I will try to do some edits on cursebreaker stuff. There are two wikis which are fair to use- my preference of Destinypedia, from the original Halopedia (surely deserving respect for that) and Destiny Gamewiki. I don't know anything about how 'good' Gamewiki is and if they act rudely like Fandom has, but I'm sure it's fine. If you're unbroken, fine. Go rant about how you slap r3tards from across the map with brokeback mountaintop. Do something. Think about the amount of time you spend on those seals. I have another challenge, which is dumb, but just my point about imploring people to join the wikis. Comment on the person above you and challenge them to edit some particular topic of your choice. Pretty simple. Sort of a forum game. Maybe one day we will have a functioning wiki.

(This focussed on a lore perspective; mainly because realised about halfway through that OP was generalising to all elements of destiny. ) We do have functioning wikis. They’re called YoUtUbErS Alright. Now that joke is out the way, get rid of the wikis. At this point they’re all pretty much useless. I do believe a good example is Destinypedia having mention that a piece of lore from Truth to Power regarding Eris Morn’s location of birth; which has pretty much (barring a few entries or passages) been confirmed as lies told or seeded by Savathun. The entry said she was born in St Petersburg but we know for a fact she was born in the City. Whilst it’s confirmed in Stolen Intelligence, I do believe there’s probably lore from the grimoire that confirms it as well. Destiny’s lore is a compact and at times, a rather convoluted one. If you want my, or anyone’s input into the lore you’ll follow em on here, reddit, YouTube or social media. If not, then you’ll read the lore yourselves. Yes I know that sounds rather rude or whatever, but the fact is one’s interpretation of lore might mean a difference in how the wider consensus of lore enthusiasts see it (just don’t throw a hissy fit if your theory gets disproved by pre-existing lore), also the fact is the lore tends to be not too hard to follow along (give of take a few books or entries, in which case I wouldn’t blame you for looking at a wiki; or best case actually reading something a good few times till you have a brief understanding). That’s what I prefer about forum type deals; you can get multiple people to get input on something, that you have a question about. Multiple people’s answers are gonna be different and some may lead to bigger and usually more philosophical questions. So if you have a question, ask it; it will likely lead to better discussion about it. This is also why, even with their clear ego and clearly biased approach to theory crafting (by that I mean stating what they say as fact) we need Youtubers. They allow those who don’t like reading (seriously though I’ll never understand them but that’s somewhat unrelated) to understand the lore. For they vocalise the lore that frankly, could be done with being in the game. Now that’s not a bad thing for the youtubers. They make money at the end of the day and fair enough. If anything it shows Bungie’s lack planning with the game; we know for a fact vocalised grimoire is possible, they’ve done it all throughout the game over three years in fact. YouTube exists, and it’s frankly much easier to use than a wiki, nothing is gonna stop that from being the case. It might be time to just accept this and find one that suits you. There also happens to be a fact that people, don’t have the time to be making this kind of thing. TL;Dr - read the lore or watch a YouTube video on it, and unless you generally have a reason to do so, don’t rely to heavily on wikis.
