  • I think Saturn was supposed to be the start of D3 based off of their content cycle, and making a new game every three years. I believe we may go there to seek a new source of power after Titan is inevitably glassed. We may run in to Savathûn, we may choose to either take up the Darkness or find a way to attain more power in the Light. The way of choosing the Darkness would likely be by taking the Taken throne for ourselves, as we were always meant to do in being the ones to kill Oryx, while choosing the Light would be to leave it. Taking this mantle would essentially give us Oryx’s power and knowledge. The same knowledge Oryx attained by slaying Akka. The knowledge to commune directly with the Darkness. This would probably lead to us breaking the curse on the Dreaming City in one way or another. The content cycle this year has been to sort of “wrap up” the story arcs from the previous full expansions and if that’s really the way things are going, we are headed right to Forsaken territory. I mean, there is already an asset in the game for a load in sequence to the Dreadnaught. It was a glitch during Forsaken when going to Titan. It actually happened to me personally. I think the whole choosing thing could be like the choice between the Vanguard and the Drifter. Lasting effects. Guardians who choose to stay with the Light would likely have the idea that the only way to protect humanity is to find a way to destroy the Darkness (which is impossible imo), and they’d go on their own quest to seek greater power IN the Light. They’d be met with reworked, amazing versions of what they’ve got now complete with probably new abilities, new supers, new grenades, etc. Guardians who choose to cast out the Light within and go to the Darkness would likely have the idea that the only way to protect humanity is to prove to the Darkness that Humanity deserves its stake in the Universe, and will endeavor to BE the Final Shape that the Dark seeks while proving the Light correct in that there could be new possibilities. They would be seeking a greater power THAN their Light. They’d lose the Powers of Light and gain completely separate subclasses and supers. This could end up it a shift from the current locked trees toward something more akin to what we saw in D1. If Savathûn has in fact taken the Taken mantle, we may pry it out of her cold, dead hands. The Light was given to us. That is the nature of the Gardener. We will have to take the Darkness. That is the nature of the Winnower. Not sure how this would tie in to breaking the curse apart from beating the crap out of Savathûn, but who knows? I’m very likely to be 100% incorrect about everything I just said lol.
