Legit those stupid nightmares go straight to the sacrifice they don’t ever try to stop. Dosen’t help they have a billion health and like 5 of them spawn so stupid man, give them less hp or make their ai not rush straight to the sacrifice.

Modifié par GrifterDeMier01 : 11/14/2019 12:36:29 PMI finally got around to doing this just a few hours ago and it's fun. I love the chaos. Also, swords are your best friends. They can stun lock the nightmares or knock them back quite a bit and do tons of damage. Just another mindless escalation protocol, blind well type activity. So far the only loot I got was some meh guns. Hopefully it has some better more rare drops.

Modifié par kellygreen45 : 11/14/2019 12:34:43 PMIts not that hard. 1. Don't expend your supers trying to kill the boss. Use them on the nightmaers. 2. As soon as it goes immune, peel off and immediately go after the nightmares. 3. Unload your supers and special/heavy ammo on the nightmares to kill the as quickly as possible. Make sure you have the Nightmare bonus damage mods equipped and pick up any Unstable Essence that drops to buff your damage. 4. When the immune phase is over. Make sure to kill the trash mobs so you put more time on the clock. TLDR: The mechanics of the fight, and killing the Nightmares as quickly as possible is more important than damage-dumping into the boss. Follow the formula above....and you can kill that boss with as few as 4 or 5 players....and like three damage cycles. Groups that fail, ALWAYS fail because they're too focused on the boss. So they either don't deal with the Nightmares fast enough....or they expend all their abilities and heavy ammo trying (in vain) to bake the boss...and have nothing left for the Nightmares. So they can't stop them, and they wind up getting sacrificed. And if only a few of them do....you basically lose all your time on the clock.

Modifié par blade329 : 11/13/2019 6:22:24 PMI love this activity, but it's a crap shoot sometimes. You are totally at the mercy of who is around. I did one clear, with a group of players that really knew how to do a lot of damage. That was fun. We made short work of the boss. I also had my killer Warlock build going. Then the next match was a clusterf**k, with players that didn't know what they were doing. It's all good though, since players got to learn sometime. The newbies don't know how to kill the shielded Wizards. So, I just jump in and do it. Most of the time, they follow the lead.
-
Also doesn’t help that the randoms just run around with there thumbs up there ass.
-
The problem is that most folks dont understand that sacrifices have such an impact on the fight and all heavy hitting ammo and abilities should be reserved for the nightmares. Boss damage can be done with most primaries and secondaries. A splash popping up identifying the nightmares need to be killed would help the encounter.

[quote]Legit those stupid nightmares go straight to the sacrifice they don’t ever try to stop. It really helps bank time 👍

Not hard when everyone knows what to do, i think as people realize you need to go right to nightmares when boss goes immune the event will get easier with randoms. I get with some groups who look like chickens with heads cut off at that phase. I also get with groups that know what to do and destroy every nightmare by saving supers and heavy for them. Imo i think the event uis fun and challenging and will get better as people understand what to do. same growing pains as escalation protocol
-
Forget the nightmares, they're easy. The problem I find is the idiots that don't kill ads and leave me to have to murder 700 acolytes by myself
-
Agreed. There’s almost zero margin of error during phases 2 and 3 of the boss fight. You can fail so easily. As you mentioned, Nightmares need to either have less health or they need to slow way down. They go all Usain Bolt on the sacrifice point. It def needs an adjustment.

Honestly, Altar activity is wierd for new players. I mean tha players which plays Altar for first time or even more times, but does not catch all mechanics. I would like to see some quest or something which will guide you thru that activity. Just start of new round/wave is wierd. Game says "continue with next altar" or something like that, and there is one signed by RED icon. You go here, waiting for timer and when it dissapear, nothing happend. There is another altar around from where enemies comes. I guess that people does not perfrom well in this activity is becouse they do not know what to do and there is no ingame guide/tutorial quest for that activity. Even I have about 500 killed nightmares in this activity, Im not sure if I really know what to do.
-
Sometimes you'll get people who know the second the boss goes red you have to go intercept the nightmares, sometimes you don't. And then sometimes even though you got right in their face, the nightmares act like they have diarrhea and the altar is the bathroom. I haven't noticed much difference in the loot between beating the final boss and letting it roll back to tier V and timing out. Maybe the ghost? Both catered roll MW I've gotten came from the rollback failure.

I wish they would leave you in the same instance when leaving a fireteam instead of sending you to orbit. That would make it easier to get a bunch of friends together to take on challenging content in patrol zones. Then you don't have to be dependent on blueberries joining in and knowing what to do or doing the "fireteam shuffle" as was done for EP when it came out.
-
Give them a break man. If I was a sacrifice I would want my death to be painless and not die from gunshots.
-
Problem is the fight isnt worth it. Why bother? Fail. Then let the next timer run out. Boom chest with weapon.
-
welcome to bungies dream of players meeting up in a public space and all working together. If you have the right group it's not too bad. But how often does that happen? And it's remarkably hard to get a group together via lfg.
-
Nitemares are only half the problem. No one seems to kill ads. Ads add time. So killing ads and killing the nitemares in-between dps phase is what should be happening that way if a nitemare sacs then you can recover. If no one kills ads and focuses completely on nitemares then the whole run is -blam!-ed as soon as one sacs
-
I don't think it's the boss rather the fact that randoms can't be coordinated with and 7/10 of the time don't know how to stall and keep back the nightmares. Furthermore since we can't get more than 3 people together at a time from what I hear, it makes it impossible to get a full team together to do it.
-
Modifié par justin_giver : 11/13/2019 4:57:56 PMtip, Divinity on the boss. seriously with the right weapons.. the boss, nightmares, etc go down like two bit -blam!- on a saturday night.
-
Funny how randoms don’t bother killing nightmares jogging to sacrifice
-
Its annoying to be sure but what pisses me off the most is that if u knock a nightmare off their course for a couple seconds they will just teleport and auto sacrifice. Had to stop running blade barrage cause it kept making knights sacrifice. And thats just cheap
-
Modifié par Swiftlock : 11/13/2019 3:31:09 PMThe thing that bothers me is when wizards straight up ignore tethers/slowdown effects and fly off at mach 4 like nothing happened to them.
-
I mean. after wave 5 what's the point? Just Biff the boss then let them all sacrifice on the wave 5 repeat. Collect loot. Everyone thinks they can 1 phase the boss so they unload everything then have nothing for the nightmares lol.
-
Considering I achieved the Bane of Sorrow triumph with 4 other guys, I really don’t think it’s all too difficult, just need to run high DPS and coordinate buffs and supers
-
Yeah they bolt right to the other thing. Glad I got this done early and dont care about the weapons.
-
4 of them spawn during the damage phase. Two come from the middle, and two come from the sides. Split your team up to tackle them all at once. Your best options for slowing them down/killing them are: 1. Anarchy + Shotgun/Loaded Question 2. Full magazine of GL + secondary 3. Leviathan's Breath 4. Celestial Nighthawk 5. Middle Tree Sentinel to block and slow their path 6. Izanagi's Burden IF you are good at hitting moving crits 7. Jotunn 8. Rockets + Demolitionist. With Armamentarium, Oppressive Darkness, and an Ambitious Assassin/Demolitionist Heretic, you can get off 4 rockets and 2 debuff grenades without reloading. They will absolutely die to that

Got lucky over the weekend and got the triumph for no sacrifice, enjoying that ship, it's a pita though that's for sure, especially depending on WHO the boss is killing the ads isn't always viable.
