Bungie has been notorious in D2 for being super vague in the patch notes with sandbox updates and balancing tweaks, practically omitting number values completely where any sweeping changes have been made to the game. I've seen people in the past complain about the fact that half of the patch notes are filled with buffs/nerfs like "nerfed [gun type], or buffed damage effect on [exotic armor]".
I don't know about you, but it makes it really hard for me to determine whether or not I should suddenly give a crap about the latest versions of stuff they update.
For those of you that don't understand what I'm on about, here's a snippet from all the way back in September with the 2.0 update that changed basically everything about D2 from Year 1.

Ability recharge bonus increased
Great! By how much though? No percentages, no numbers.
Flashbang
Increased base damage
Incendiary Grenade
Increased base damage
Storm Grenade
Increased base damage
Cool! But again, no numbers. Can't tell which grenade will be the best for what I want to do.
Fairly small gripe, but not being able to tell the actual values for the changes for things is irritating. People on the internet shouldn't have to be tasked with picking up the slack when all it takes is a few extra moments to type in the actual values in the update notes.
Or even better: stop doing the same thing in game too. You know what'd be awesome? If I knew the exact percentage of the damage buffs that were applied to my weapon. Even if it's a rough estimate and not an exact value, I'd like to see that rampage on stack 2 does around 45% more damage than the standard value. The "Surrounded" perk came with Black Armory and the first thing everyone did was flock to Titan to go bully Greg and his buddies because nobody knew how much the buff or it's mod effected weapon damage, effectively wasting time because there aren't any numbers attached anywhere in game or in the patch notes. We already have duration timers on our class abilities, why not our weapon/armor perks? Taken Barrier has 10 sec timer on the screen, why the hell doesn't Kill Clip/Rampage, both of which are perks which have been around since launch.

1 commentaireNot knowing the values means you don’t know what’s best; therefore, you play with what you like. Actually sounds like a positive step towards meta busting.

This has plagued destiny since 2014.

1 commentaireAuto rifles got a 0.04% buff. Yes....that actually happened in D1. Probably why Bungie are so vague with thier patch notes....they want to avoid being a laughing stock again.
-
This is my “tinfoil hate” moment but I think this feeds the streamers something to create content with. People playing to figure out new metas and then posting vids. This generically inflates playtime, log ins and interest. But this is all speculation on my part....or IS it?🤔
-
Be careful asking for this. They may tell you it’s a 00.4% buff to auto rifles.

1 commentaireThey don't want to specify because that would mean Bungie is wrong on what they write. An actual company has no problem telling you because they aren't disfunctional.

Modifié par l09047 : 12/25/2018 10:04:59 PMthere are several possible scenario's 1) bungie doesn't tell you because they think you are to stupid to understand (we might be that stupid) 2) bungie doesnt make any changes, they just say they did and you can't disprove them 3) bungie does not know how to apply changes they made, so applied changes have little or no effect (they buffed smg's trying to make them more competitive in pvp but all they did was increase the range which doesnt really help) 4) bungie is highly disorganized and lower tier devs make changes that management doesn't understand, isn't aware of, and or doesnt care. (like season 5 shaders not dismantling quick before the previous patch, whoever made and added those shaders forget the line of code that made them dismantle fast) i'd say the fact that patch notes are always released at least one day if not several days after the patch has been implemented suggests confusion , if not confusion amongst bungie staff , then the intent to confuse the player base. They decide what they want to tell you after the fact

The numbers Mason. What do they mean?
