Where did all the stats go?

I would like stat tracking back.

I like the stat tracking the way it is now.

I never cared about stats.

I've been a part of this site for a long time and one of my favorite aspects of the site was the stat tracking. The ease of being able to track my stats, compare them with friends, or just watch my progress (or regress more likely). That's completely gone. Not just on the site but in-game too. This is really sad to me as D1 had extensive tracking of both PVP and PVE. I understand that the Halo stats from way back became lost to time as there are probably few people who still care about these old stats. But D1 is still part of my overarching Destiny experience. So why are these stats gone? Am I not supposed to be able to track my "Legend"? It's almost patronizing how my kills aren't even tracked in the "competitive" version of the crucible. Is it because I can't handle seeing how poorly I'm doing? Is Bungie afraid I won't want to play anymore if my stats look bad? I'm not really mad about this, I just don't understand why this happened. I want my stats back. At the very least a K/D/A to track. Does anyone know why we can't have this?

 • Thanks for the feedback! I think we on the companion team would all agree that stats are great to have, and we would love to have a more robust stats representation on the companion than just game history. The reason we have difficulty doing all of the things we would like to do, as in this case, often comes down to manpower. Stats are a particularly difficult thing to build - there is a huge amount of numerical data that has to be displayed in a variety of ways, and they can change depending on a lot of factors. Ideally, a good stats system would involve various visual representations, filters, and sorting to help players make sense of all of those numbers. It also involves a lot of testing to ensure that the numbers we display match as closely as possible to the numbers shown in the game. As you can see, building such a system requires a lot of time from lots of people. The Companion team is fairly small, and supports three platforms (web, iOS, Android). Much of the work required must be done three separate times. Between Destiny 1 and 2, many changes had to be made across lots of systems, which meant a lot of rebuilding for most game-related areas in the Companion. Because of that, we had to make decisions about which features are going to have the biggest impact for the most people, and that involves making the tough decision to cut certain things we would really like to work on. That is the reason we have so heavily backed our community of API developers - they have the creativity and freedom to build some amazing things, giving the larger community of players a much deeper dive into all of our systems than our small team can provide by ourselves. Sites like DestinyTracker, Guardian.gg, and DestinyKD all provide great stats systems that use our API. So - all that to say, we would like to build up stats again if we are able to fit it into our schedule given all of the things mentioned above. I hope that gives a little more of a window into how our team works!
