So, many many many years ago I was big into Warhammer by Games Workshop. A table top miniature game. Many many years ago GW had their own forums. They closed them because of toxicity, as well as other factors, but mainly the negative vibe was taking root.
Looking at these forums, should Bungie close the forums to end the toxicity?
It would also free up assets for Bungie too. A forum is not a requirement or guarantee or necessity for any (game) company after all. It's a courtesy to the player community if anything. I think the community has lost that privilege with their behavior, IMHO.
If they were too, they'd need to develop a way players can reach out to Bungie with questions and concerns. Also a system to team up with other players for strikes and clans and so on.
When GW closed the forums a third party (many) sprung up. Dakkadakka for example. Maybe the different clicks regarding Destiny can go hang out with their own people that feel the same about destiny. The haters, the players that enjoy the game, and everything in between.
Once GW forums closed, their stock went back up, they gained players, and things got back on track.

Modifié par TheArtist : 7/3/2018 5:16:23 PMTo paraphrase Pres. Lyndon Johnson...... "You'd rather have them inside the tent, pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in." Getting rid of the forums won't do anything about toxic people. You'll have to evolve a better human being to fix that problem. The issue is how to manage the toxicity that exists. Better to have a place where people can vent their rage in a controlled fashion...than have it out there on the deck rolling around like a loose cannon.

Bungie should close the forum but not necessarily due to the toxicity within it, but rather, Bungie's lack of investment in it. Let's be honest, Bungie's interactive platforms are everywhere BUT here. Reddit, Twitter, Youtube, Twitch etc.The forums are typically the last to get informed, rarely get interaction with the company, and even then---are limited to two community managers who don't play the game and simply parrot company messages already made on other platforms. There's nothing unique or exclusive here. No incentive for players to be on here. They won't shut it down though... the activity here boosts their bottom line numbers when speaking to shareholders about engagement. Which only leaves the option of abandoning this site. After Foresaken drops, when everyone realizes it's just more of an empty grind... the last desperate twitch of a person before they die, they'll become legend for all the wrong reasons. D2 is a graveyard full of players living in the past who haven't realized it yet.

12 commentairesThat would be -blam!-ing hilarious. They close down their own forums because they (and you) can’t handle the truth about this franchise: that it is a malignant tumor in the gaming industry. It’s the franchise that should be allowed to die.

they should just end the game.
-
They probably will.... This is the only fun left for me that they haven’t screwed up.....
-
That would be funny. It's just us fvcking with each other anyway.
-
Lol I mean they don't read them. Why not. It's just us poking fun at each other now days.

As negative as people are Bungie still reads high ranked/ high liked posts. If they did delete the forms I would be okay as long as they kept the feedback form. Destiny would not be Destiny without the community partially shaping the games future

1 commentaireI think they should. These forums are just garbage.

I wouldn't mind if Bungie closed their forums. It makes no difference to me, as long as they turn their game around fast. Forsaken is their last chance.

I am fine either way but I could hardly blame then if they did. It does grow tiresome seeing thread after thread of angsty kids acting like they know bette. Or, people having a stroke because it does not match perfectly with what they think it should be, all of which done with painful disregard for grammar and/or punctuation. Note: I am all for constructive criticism, people who frame complaints and concerns intelligently and with maturity. However, that is very rare.
