Good. I think any race based team should be removed from sports. Never understood why people thought it was okay to use a race of people as a mascot.

I generally agree. Though, I do think the Chicago Blackhawks and Florida State Seminoles do a respectful job.
I generally agree. Though, I do think the Chicago Blackhawks and Florida State Seminoles do a respectful job.
Eh...I'm a little torn on those. I mean the mascots look cool, and I get the whole "warrior" aspect of it. You know, mascots are supposed to be fierce and intimidating, and occasionally part of the culture of the area. For example, the KC Chiefs makes sense, since there was a large native population in that area. And even then, the logo was only an Arrowhead, which is pretty tame. (The mascot used to be a native on a horse and was changed to a wolf after complaints.) I wonder if there are people who are offended at the Celtics logo, or the Vikings. From that perspective, I think it's hard not to slip into hypocritical territory. I mean where is the line? Is it okay as long as the image doesn't appear racist or offensive? And who decides what that even is? Should every race have a spoke person that weighs in on mascots and team names? This is a topic that greatly intrigues me.

I am descended from both Celts and Vikings and I have no problem with it. You can even make the mascots cartooney to make the kids happy and scare them, I see no problem with it.

Considering our love of drinking, I have no doubt that some would have claimed to have met him, lol.
