This may not be a popular suggestion, but I think the infinite forest could be used as a tool to bring back d1 activities. Using the planet sized reality simulator you could litteraly add back campaign missions, strikes, and best of all raids all while referring to them as vanguard sponsored training simulations of the heroic deeds of past guardians. I know some would see it as once again recycling content, however the additional activities would make d2 go from not much endgame to more than you could do in a week. You wouldn't even have to add back the old weapons and armor due to it all being just a simulation. Just have the activities reward engrams and raid encounters drop the high light engrams and an exotic engram for raid completions. I'm also aware that boss health would need adjusting to make up for the week loadouts in d2 but I still think this feature could be very fun for those that loved those activities (VoG FtW).

my idea for the infinite forest -3 to 6 guardian setup, 100 floors of procedurally generated levels. boss every 25th level, checkpoint enabled. bosses* - skolas *can be tied to lore, we prevented/slowed down skolas from obtaining vex tech, hence helping our past selves defeat him* - Saint-14 *we assist saint in fighting horde of vex and fighting the mind that took his light(turns perfect paradox into an exotic weapon after clear). - Atheon * just nostalgia googles* - Panoptes * actually a raid like encounter with mechanics -Osiris -prestige mode only- *osiris challenges you to prove your worth as a guardian, each guardian fights one of his reflections while travelling thru different timelines* <REWARDS> *VEX MYTHOCLAST D2 ver* armor set etc.

That’s what I was hoping it would be in the first place
-
Not a bad idea but, it would probably be hard to code and make the game take up as much memory as three or four games in the process. So in order to have access to those they could make destiny 1 and 2 link up in memory space, just not the loot.
-
Not s bad idea but I'd rather see an infinite horde mode added. It makes perfect sense and infinite horde modes have TONS of replayability
-
Reconfiguring D1 material for D2's engine would be difficult. Otherwise, they'd have done it already. I suggest adding a horde mode to the Forest, like a sim Prison of Elders. Have it deliver Hive, Vex, whatever. In a randomly determined platform arena. Have Osiris and Sagira take Variks's place (or bring back Variks).

I always thought the Infinite Forest could be able to add end game boss encounters for players to group up and kill. Considering the Forest simulates pretty much every enemy race barring the Taken, it already is set up in a pretty good way to allow for basically infinite kinds of boss fights. Allow for different tiers of bosses as well, such as your basic kind of boss that youd find in a Strike with very minor mechanics for casual play, have another tier where they are a little more complicated, but not too crazy, something along the lines of how Skolas was in D1, and then the top tier would be your Raid level boss encounter where they can go crazy with the mechanics. Something like that i guess

Infinite forest sucks. It's not infinite and it's not a forest....so there's that. It's also boring as hell and everyone speeds through it. My idea...completely remove it from strikes. Yes, it sucks that bad.
-
This is not going to happen as they are too busy working on D3
-
I'm thinking the name 'Infinite Forest', is a pun for those in the IT field. For those in IT: Think Active Directory. . . "A tree is a collection of one or more domains and domain trees in a contiguous namespace, linked in a transitive trust hierarchy. At the top of the structure is the forest. A forest is a collection of trees that share a common global catalog, directory schema, logical structure, and directory configuration." This "forest" could actually just be one giant and advanced Active Directory. Panoptes was just the Administrator. That would explain why it's focused more on digital and less on actual green forests. Just an idea from a bored IT guy at work. lmao
-
I personaly think this would be a great idea only problem is that bungie is already working on D3 when the second D2 dlc isnt even out yet
-
Or add trees lmao "forest" my fat ass
-
Not bad. I thought the infinite forest could be used as a random dungeon generator. Similar to diablo 3 portals or whatever, it's been a while 😀
-
Thats what i thought it was going to be... but its too hard to make content.
-
Just a room full of dicks that are flung at u. Infinite forest
-
The infinite forest could be used for so many things... it’s in the name, infinite. They could do so many amazing things with that place, but sadly all we have is a fancy bridge.

Really anything would be better than the big old nothing that we ended up getting. They made an area that can play with all of space and time, and everything is a simulation, and yet they did basically nothing with. Heck we dont even see possibilities for the future for the planet we are on, we see one empty possibility for like two missions. So many cool things could have been done, we could have seen and experienced stuff like the old fire teams going through and doing things like fighting crota for the first time, or see what osiris has been doing. I would have been perfectly fine with some of the old strikes coming back with maybe a few teeks to makes it interesting (would have been better than playing through story missions again pretending to be strikes).
-
You mean something like this?
-
Cool idea my friend. I'll be honest it's not what I'd think for something like this but its still pretty good. I'd always imagined the infinite forest being an something you load into like strikes but it's has something like the a.i director from left for dead that learns your playstyle and then changes thing to challenge you everytime you go into it
-
No sorry
-
I’d rather go back to the simulation with the hive and do a firefight/horde mode
-
If they did that it would just reinforce the initial idea of destiny 2 should have been a dlc for D1
-
I dont agree with them using the IF to recreate d1 activities. If people wanna play d1 activities, they should just go play d1. D2 is a new game, and should have new activities. Adding d1 activities is just gonna increase the volume of those saying that d2 shouldve just been a d1 add-on, which i disagree with. I do agree that they need to do more with it. They can do special missions; let us do some of the missions sagria/osiris talk about like visiting the hive home world; make it an explore able area; etc. I feel like they are wasting a great asset that's already in game. It's the same feeling i had when they introduced PoE and didnt expand the use of it. Hopefully they learned, and dont repeat that.

Bungie be like: You will need to pay for our upcoming DLC to access D1 content
-
Well done u made the infinite forest an real infinite forest
-
Put free loot boxes in them😂
