Perhaps the fifth race (the Glimmer) isn't being revealed because they are the most important. I think there are a few possible scenarios. Either: A) the Glimmer brought the other races into the Sol system, whether indirectly or as a part of an allegiance (like the Covenant). B) the Glimmer appear in later into the story, and either serve as a common enemy (like the Lambent, Locust, Human conflict in Gears of War), or force the different aliens to work together, with or without the humans, to fight them. C) the other races are entering the Sol System to get away from the Glimmer (similar to how humanity was pushed into other systems to get away from the Flood) D) the Glimmer were the mysterious cataclysmic event that nearly wiped humanity out. When the traveler sacrificed itself, they were knocked out, but they are starting to return, and are more powerful than all the other alien races. Perhaps the Glimmer are more powerful than the other races because they can disguise themselves, and take the shape of other lifeforms... It would certainly explain this image, and also explain their name. They may be called the Glimmer because that's the only way to tell them apart from those they are copying, their method of disguise isn't perfect, and the impostors will "glimmer" a bit to give themselves away to the wary-eyed. We really won't know for sure what they are or why they haven't been revealed until they are revealed, but those are my best guesses.

  • That image is the taken, from the taken king. However, that 5th alien rAce isnt the taken, the hive dont have pyrimid shaped ships. But the figure is black and white. Maybe this race will steal oryx's takeing powers? Maybe they'll take humans this time, making it diffucult. Its definitly related to osiris, mayb itll be revealed in destiny 2: the shattered suns

What if a glimmer could appear pretending to be another player that the game has matched you with for an encounter; then once you've killed the enemies the glimmer turns on you.

That would explain the smoke in the picture, taking on the form of whatever container it's in.

  • That could also explain the cataclysm. If the Glimmer look just like us, we wouldn't be able to tell what was hitting us. If all of humanity united against an enemy, and that enemy looked and acted just like humanity, that would certainly cause enough confusion for humanity to be quickly beaten down. The Traveler could have used its power all at once to reveal the Glimmer for what it was, and the Glimmer would have retreated out of confusion and fear of the mysterious power of the traveler. Now that humanity is creeping back out, the Glimmer is as well. Super-conspiracy: all the other races are just humans as well, and the Glimmer are making them appear alien to cause humanity to tear itself apart.

  • There may be an E). The glimmer may take over a body, possession if you will, with the effect of a glow. The result, destruction from within. This could spread from host to host, city to planet. As in the artwork, all become one no matter the race. For what purpose. In the artwork with the black pyramids, in the blue light there are objects, beings? maybe slaves?

  • Remember what Joseph Staten said about a soul being ripped from the body of one of the Fallen? That right there could explain that.

Nah, I think that's just the way the Fallen dies. Actually, I think that soul ripping out is the Hive.

  • In the fifth plate the black figure has a white face or head, no soul?
