Hey, there. Let me attempt to clear some things up here. Xur is randomized. There are times when we can pull off miracles like making him stay in the Tower longer when Christmas is cancelled, but his inventory is governed by the same chaos that influences all the loot drops. Comments in that video about "the plan" were more about the fact that we know what he's selling before he appears, even if we can't reach out and stock his shelves ourselves. We set him in motion, and his will is not his own. Also in that video, you can hear me confessing that I'm not always in the loop when it comes to these things, so you should take pre-game lobby comments among friends with a grain of salt. That video was from months ago, and I was still learning the intricacies of all the new systems that we launched with the game. These conspiracy theories are symptoms of a burning desire. Gjallarhorn is the most popular ask that comes my way. I know you want it, even more than the collective requests for more vault space. As you can see, these are things that are beyond my control. I don't have one either. I'll do my best to talk to the people who create the code that drives Xur, and see if we can make him more valuable to you in the future.

  • Is Gjhallahorn taken from his inventory I just want to know I have one but it's a big talk on these forums that he will sell it or he won't. If u can clear that up for us if you know or not it would save a lot of argument on this forum. Thanks for ready this and hope to here from you soon,

  • Any chance you could expand on the phrase "the same chaos that influences all the loot drops." Clearly, it is not identical since other loot drops can include uncommon, rare, and legendary items/engrams. Clearly also, different tiers of items in the chaos have different percentage chances of being dropped. While you dispel the myth that the programmers actively influence what Xur will have, you have not dispelled the myth that the programmers passively influenced what he will drop - - giving certain priority to certain items (for example, the DLC exotic). Honestly, I'm less interested in Xur and more interested in the general rubric for drop percentages. Now, I simply kill HM crota three times a week and then do nightfall/weeklies. Sometimes I grab the Vog chest and Atheon. I see no reason to run Roc strikes or crucible, since my past experience indicates that the drop rate of exotics is extremely low. Since crucible does not have a ranking system, it has no incentive other than drops. Same goes for Roc strikes (obviously, in a different way). I'm still convinced some sort of consumable to increase drop percentages would go a long way here. Anyhow, thanks for clarifying some of this.

  • It seems awfully coincidental that within a fortnight of the game being released both red death and Ghorn were on his loot table and we've never had the opportunity since. Doesn't seem like RNG from this angle....

  • How does that even make sense? Because something was sold at one time but not again... You decide that is indicative of no RNG? Go home, you're drunk.

So the fact that he's selling the same exact things as Jan 2nd (down to the gauntlet engram) is pure chance? You should check out this thread on reddit on the odds of that happening, it's like one in ten million. I didn't make it but it's interesting: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2u6pbk/probability_of_xur_selling_the_exact_the_same/ Perhaps the DLC exotics are weighted more on certain weeks? If not that's some crazy odds. Thanks for looking into it, really cool of you.

  • Unless it's weighted rng with heavy weight towards junk / dlc items

  • It's gotta be weighted. Maybe they tweak the weight of EACH item every week. Either way, it's a GAME! If you enjoy the game, the loot is all bonus.

  • It was clear after Xur sold sunbreakers repeatedly from the get go that he was somewhat randomized and the randomization was weighted / -blam!-ing stupid. It's highly improbable that each exotic has the same chance. It's highly improbable that DLC items show more than originals without some nonuniform odds. And some of the outcomes with sunbreakers and Armenentium are so stupid that it's improbable they were planned by humans. At least on purpose. There aren't any bugs in this game ...

IF this doesn't dispel any rumors surrounding Xur I don't know what will. Seems pretty cut an dry that there is in fact still hope for Ghorn to be sold. So everyone hating on that fact should just give it up already and stop worrying about not being that special snowflake anymore. The goal of fun isn't about the devices that got you to where you are, it's about the journey you took to get there. Seriously people stop worrying about that someone will get something you got through RNG easier than you. IT doesn't devalue your success at all. So really enough of the raining on others parade.
