with the last quote, did u just contradict yourself. also for this type of game, don't people usually just say call outs. like the only thing i can think of using call outs is when doing the raid...and it's pretty specific. So then do you mean in just during normal gameplay?

The last quote is from Dinklebot. My main point is that being able to say North or East to your fireteam better helps coordinate attacks, be it in normal gameplay, crucible, or raids. It would cut down confusion on giving directions.

so assuming you guys are together, then this would be relevant. (as in on the field, the characters are right next to each other). When separated, you just find the guy on your map or they state a familiar location that you might recognize. So basically, can you give an example of how effective adding these cardinal directions would be?

This is a relevant suggestion made by SirJosephCharles. All games in a three-dimensional environment require and standard reference for direction, especially in multi-player. When communicating to your team and/or strangers in a pick-up-game, it is essential to have a common point of reference. Since use of slang and/or colloquialisms like: “over there… behind us!! To the Left!!!” are objective no two groups will communicate the same. Also, references like: “by the crater” or “behind the wall!” never work since the environment has many of these features or can be defined differently by each person (i.e. a “wall” can be described as a “barricade” or a “crater” a “hole”). No two groups can enter an environment and communicate the locations of objectives or enemies in the same language, unless it is standardized in the game. Without it, confusion sets in, time is wasted, players die. Please consider millennia worth of wartime knowledge in battle spaces around the globe. Confusion is the number one enemy in any battle space. There is a reason all cultures have adopted cardinal directions and standard measurements. Locating your enemy and or objectives in a timely manner facilitates smooth execution. Please give “SJC” his damn North arrow. You could be saving a life.

Uh but this is destiny. Your example is not relevant and u didn't answer my question. I just want to see where I would say the enemy is east bound during gameplay. Thanks for the history lesson and statements of the obvious.
