Age Correlation With Disappointment over Marty's Termination
Please select your age in the poll, then comment whether you [i]are[/i] or [i]are not[/i] disappointed with Marty's termination. This is for curiosity over whether those who are not affected by this loss are old enough to have experienced the games for which O'Donnell composed.
The correlation between age and recognition of Marty's work does not prove or disprove anything, and it is simply out of curiosity that I ask. I understand the poll's statistics will be partially unreliable, but I still ask that you are honest. Are you old enough to be a part of the generation that experienced Halo full-on, and thus experienced Marty's work at its prime?
Yes, I know you could have played Halo after its release. Still, you may not have been a part of the community at the time, and that could have effect on your "caring" about someone like Marty.
EDIT: I was assuming most of the #Destiny community was comprised of younger users. My apologies for the poll options.

9 Respuestasthis is the first im hearing of it. I didnt even know the name of the composer who made the music. I do remember turning on halo back in the day and having that sad dark music come through, not many games have that power. Saying that, it doesnt mean the new person doing it is going to be bad at it. In the reveal it does show an Orchestra playing. This means its an actual musical composer bringing it to life and not some dude on a keyboard which is me :P Eitherway, I dont expect it to beat the FFXIV soundtrack, which is nothing short of amazing.

1 Respuesta19+ is the highest age bracket? Son back in my day we didn't even have these fancy numbers yet. We drew lines in the dirt and we felt lucky to have that! Also one vote for "don't care". Regardless of what he did in the past he handled his termination borderline unprofessionally and we don't know any of the reasons behind why it happened, or if it was justified.

The termination of Marty has zero bearing on me whatsoever. I also know that terminations don't happen for no reason, especially corporate conspiracy bullcrap, like certain crowds would have you believe.

I'm 22 and I was pretty bummed to hear the news. Especially after playing the beta and hearing some wonderful new stuff! Best of luck to him though.

21 and very disappointed. It's the only black mark on Destiny's release. I wish I could know what happened. I can't get properly pissed unless I know who was the guilty party, haha.

Unless someone knows him personally it doesn't matter one way or another how they feel about it. Your feelings won't get him rehired. All anyone can do is appreciate what he contributed to gaming and move on. Maybe another company will hire him.

I'm 25, and I'm disappointed that they let go the person who's music helped me through some tough times. Hopefully he does something great with his talent

I am [b]EXTREMELY[/b] disappointed in his termination but we don't have the details and likely never will. So we can't really say with any form of accuracy if it was justified or not. (Not that i think it was, but that's the truth of it)

Im disappointed. Marty made the music for all the halo games and destiny as well. Hopefully he comes back.

Tbh, when composers have a specific genre it's hard to tell the differences between a lot of them in movies or games. Only by hiring a different genre composer can you dramatically change how the game feels. So it makes sense to change composers once in awhile. I've played a lot of games and seen a lot of movies. I'm also an audio engineer/producer for my girlfriend. The genre really makes a huge difference. Quake would be less horror if instead of Trent Reznor they chose the guy from halo, but it would be too horror if they chose the composer from dead space.

[b] Hmm i know one thing Marty made some of thee most breathtaking music i myself have heard in any form of entertainment.I have no idea what went down behind closed doors.Neither do any of you know the circumstances behind Marty's termination.What i do know is he indeed was one of the seven founders of Bungie.His music enveloped emotion it was inspirational and jerked at your emotions while holding so much weight and feeling.He will be sorely missed by me and many others.I myself wonder how do you replace someone like Marty his sound embodys and is embeded into Bungie.Simply put Marty is quintessentially the backbone of thee Bungie sound and is responsible for such. What happened really sucks, but nobody is the bad guy here. Not yet.
