The inability to feel pain

So I was thinking. In the Medieval era, medical knowledge was (obviously) a lot less advanced than it is now. Back then they blamed a lot of things that are perfectly logical to our eyes as acts of god, and would repent or rejoice to these things in response as the situation demanded. So; what would they have thought of someone with Congenital insensitivity to pain back then, assuming of course that this person survived long enough to be able to say "Oh hey, I can't feel pain" or whatever. Would they have seen this as a blessing of whatever god or gods they worshiped in their land? Or would they consider this person to be possessed by a demon or something? Or would they maybe just say "Oh, that's pretty cool. I guess. Now go plant some crops or something peasant, sheesh." I'm interested to hear what you guys think, I'm too dumb to generate my own thoughts.
