This is a big debate among people who watch anime so what do you think? I personally don't think it is.

That's not a debate at all. Of course it isn't an anime- it's a western show done in an anime style.

I would say yes, it's utter nonsense for something to be considered Anime just because it was made in Japan which seems to be the only god dam difference.

Not really. It's done in an Anime style but that doesn't make it Anime. But that doesn't make it any less of a great show, it is just the wrong classification for it.
