Read the post and most of the replies, imagine if all of this lore was implemented into the game as foundational story to play through. All of it would have made destiny so much better. Ambitious as an undertaking to implement and groundbreaking if done right. This is the potential destiny has but never received. One day I would love to see everything in it's entirety in game with a universe full of all of this with character interactions for all of those spoken within the lore and seen through gameplay rather just some notes on a lore book.

  • I agree. I don't think the task would be insurmountable, and Bungie could set the standard for modern gaming narratives going forward. Because if you invest in the lore, it's beautiful. It's well written. The writers' over the years have really taken pride in the lore they write, and it shows. If it was integrated in-game, it wouldn't be lost on 99% of the player base. This game requires a 80-100 hr learning curve for gameplay and mechanics... people aren't going to invest 100 + hrs studying lore outside of the game. I have. But it's an unreasonable expectation of the player. So, I agree 100%.

  • I would love to see a no man sky style universe static with the lore and gameplay of everything destiny. Fully explorable and traversable for players to experience. It would be amazing to see it come to fruition, despite the argumentative nature of some of the comments, you guardians have a great insight for the lore, all of you, you envision what you see as a narrative and can correlate it. This is why reading is amazing and lore inspires us so much. Not many care for these types of things as much anymore, very sad. Enjoy your day Guardians have a great new year all of you 🍻🫡

It has been implemented into the game successfully a number of times. Sadly some of those experiences have been vaulted. Forsaken, Season of Dawn, Season of Arrivals, Season of the Chosen, Season of the Splicer, Season of the Lost (for all its faults), Witch Queen, Season of the Haunted, Season of the Seraph, Final Shape… all of these brought lore elements into the game successfully. Witch Queen is a great example actually. Quickly introduces the players to the Hive backstory from the Books of Sorrow. Savathûn was built up in game for the previous 4-5 seasons before getting her expansion. Then it delivers a massive twist regarding the bargain the Hive siblings made and begins to introduce us to the one being controlling the Black Fleet. There’s also the earlier reveal of how Savathûn gained the Light and how it casts doubt on the Traveler and its motives. We get Vow of the Disciple, my absolute favourite D2 raid because of the sheer amount of story it tells through its environment and dialogue. Murals painted depicting events from the lore book. Frozen test subjects Rhulk has been experimenting on. Trophies gathered from our enemies and displayed in a museum type area. The revelation 1/2-3/4 in that our progress has actually aided our enemy, and finally the boss fight itself, where the arrogance that’s been on display since we landed from Rhulk ends up being his undoing as he toys with us. It’s very much a Forsaken situation, an A and B story connected well. It’s not the better expansion, it was for those who played year 4 the better story.

  • While you are correct about some of it being introduced into the game, I'm talking about everything. The way I'm envisioning it is much more grandioso in terms of scale and size. I'm talking about universal building like star wars but a video game to go and explore. Think no man sky meets destiny, but the universe and lore of destiny in it's entirety. Fully explorable and traversable in the gameplay of destiny. Honestly do not think it's possible with modern gaming hardware to complete such an endeavor.
