Voidlock (and other classes) should get a nifty void class ability

Think like pheonix dive but for void, I just feel like there’s a lot of potential there. You can tell I’m a warlock main lol but I’m sure something cool can be done for the other classes too

    • Void already have unique class abilities. Overshield for Titans, invis for Hunters and Child of the old gods for Warlocks. Sure there is no flashy animations, but they are different and do stuff.

    • Just give all warlocks blink, nuff said. If every class is supposed to have an identity for their jumps, why are warlocks the only ones without a real jump? Warlock jumps are like titan jumps on a budget. The jumps are too similar but the titan ones are actually better. Something that makes more sense is granting blink for warlocks across all classes. It not only makes sense but blink is not really the best jump in the game so it wouldn’t hurt anyone or the game if that happened.

      • Honestly, I think all of the subclasses need something to make them feel more like a unique thing. Like, not something from an aspect or a fragment, but something default to the class, something that comes standard with it. Would make most sense to tie them to the class abilities. Examples... WARLOCK Void: Volatile burst on rift cast, so enemies within range become Volatile. Arc: Blind enemies within range on rift cast. Solar: Scorch on rift cast. Stasis: make the "freeze on rift cast" a standard feature. It's not powerful enough or scary enough to warrant being an additional augment to the subclass. Strand: Threadlings on Rift cast should come standard on this as well, it's such a definitive ability of the subclass, it shouldn't be an augment. I think these fit Warlock because it's supposed to be the "control" type class. They control the flow of battle through a combination of damage and effect, and these feel fitting. TITAN void: Suppressing shockwave on barricade cast. Think like the solar exotic makes it do, but suppression, with less range (maybe only a few meters?) and a tiny AoE directly around/behind the barricade on cast. Arc: Allies behind your barricade gain Jolting Rounds for their Arc and Kinetic weapons. Solar: Allies behind your barricade gain immunity to Freeze and Slow, and gain Restoration. Immunity to freeze and slow lasts for a second after leaving the barricade, but Restoration does not. Stasis: Your barricade grants allies behind it damage reduction and immunity to Scorch. This benefit lasts for a few seconds after leaving the barricade. Strand: Allies behind your barricade get Unravelling Rounds for their weapons, with the buff lasting a few seconds after leaving the barricade. I thought these fit Titan best because they are the wall that stands between their allies and their enemies. Barricade is a defensive power, built to protect and aid those in need. It only makes sense allies behind it would gain effects like this. HUNTER I need to preface this: I -hate- Hunters. I already think their Dodges are too versatile, do too much at once. But in the sake of fairness, let's see what I can come up with...If it's too weak, well, blame it on a pre-existing prejudice and feel free to help me make the ability ideas more powerful. Void: Dodging grants invisibility to allies you land near. This invisibility lasts as long as yours will. Arc: Dodging generates electrostatic energy, which is expelled on landing. Enemies near you are Jolted. Solar: Your Dodge creates an AoE shockwave on landing that deals Scorch to nearby enemies. Stasis: Your Dodge creates a Slowing burst on landing, applying Slow to all enemies within a few meters. Strand: Your Dodge grants you Woven Mail, and creates an Unravelling burst on landing, Unravelling any enemies within a few meters. I'm not 100% married to ANY of the ideas in this comment. They all have room for improvement, and were just neat little ideas I had for it. You're welcome to come up with improvements, or suggest better ways to set them up. Either way, I still think the classes all need something that makes them FEEL like a unique subclass. As it stands, all rifts JUST healing, all dodges JUST...all dodges being the same with minor differences, and all barricades JUST being walls, unless you run fragments or aspects to change them? I feel like locking all uniqueness to aspects/fragments is a tad...lame? There should be something to set them apart by subclass, and the aspects and fragments should add to that uniqueness, not be the reason for it in the first place.

        • You NEED to try sanguine alchemy with void lock and either Le-Monarque/Leviathans breath. With a debuff of 15% you’re doing 60% more damage simply by just standing in a empowering rift.

        • Well, Voidlocks do have access to child of the old gods, which feels underrated imo (though admittedly a bit finicky with the tracking at times).

          • Hi, my name is verke0 and i endorse this statement. I would love to see this in a double action kind of way. You can use your class abilty to blink downwards and cause suppression around or you can use it to blink horizontally making enemies volatile.

                • we do have dark blink but that's locked to only being in nova warp, but there is also ionic blink for arc also being locked to only being in stormtrance as well. warlock could have great movement if they made those either their own aspect or made part of 'feed the void' and 'electrostatic mind' respectively because devour is literally the same for everyone and making slightly more ionic traces shouldn't really be the whole aspect.

Maybe give us that Teleport from the Nova Warp Super? Double pressing the Class ability button gives us the ability to use a mini Nova Warp Teleport - so it'll function like Icarus Dash, only difference is that it'll be consuming the Class ability (like how the Titan Striker subclass consumes its Class ability for their dash) and it can be used both in air and on ground. If Child of the Old Gods is your chosen Aspect, you will still be able to proc it after using your Teleport, just a different method of use, so theres no real loss in Utility.

They could do a lot of cool things with Void, voidwalker doesn’t really need it (it needs a new melee) but none the less could still be cool. I had an idea for a melee that could be retooled to a class ability: Phase shift: you step between realities for a single moment and re-emerge a small distance away, when you emerge you emit a wave of weakening energy and a small amount of damage knocking your enemies back. Holding the melee button allows you to phase farther and see your approximate point of emergence. Holding the button expends melee energy and if it runs out this ability fails. It would probably need to proct devour in some way beyond kills to get use and for it to be transitioned to class ability energy. I have new melees for both nightstalker and Sentinel and neither would transition as well as phase shift would.

                  • Maybe a shorter range blink like from the Nova Warp super? Could function exactly the same as the thruster for titans.

                  • Child needs to be buffed a little. At least in end game Pve sense. In pvp it should have a suppression field. Slow/keeps supers at bay etc.
