Savathun strengthened us to defend the traveler

I think savathuns ultimate goal is protecting the traveler from the witness. She's deceived many in her time, but the most impressive deception of hers was the witness. She knew that if her plan to take the traveler failed, then we were the next best ones to protect it. That's why I think she spent her time as osiris forging an alliance with the cabal and removing the political enemies of the vanguard to unite the city. I think she also gave crow his memories back to make him feel responsible for taking on the leadership of the hunters (which we still have to see come to fruition). Who knows, maybe she knew that he would feel the guilt of uldren and that would make him kill the psion and then Saladin would join the cabal, further cementing our fragile armistice into a unified alliance (although that seems a little too specific even for savathun). She even says as much to us when we kill her at the end of witch queen "the game is now yours to win or lose." To be clear, I DON'T think she did these things to protect humanity. I think she did these things to protect the traveler and resist the witness. Savathun is still responsible for millions of human deaths and the suffering of many more. She isn't an ally of humanity: we're just a pawn in her game with the witness that she needs to keep on the board to win.

I think a lot of folks don’t account for the idea that Savathûn would have planned for a contingency or two in the case of if she did lose. When you think about it, it definitely would fit her to a T. She ousted the Factions from the city while also using Quria as a front to cover for her guise as Osiris, more than likely because she was still in the need of feeding her Worm. In that sense, she did still help us albeit in non-straightforward manner. She even planned for her own resurrection via Traveler, leaving a proverbial bread crumb path for us to follow just so she could use it to remember.
Though what surprised me was that she was somewhat aware of her own capability of being Light resurrected in spite of also being oblivious to how the Worm Familiar and Rhulk/Witness tricked her and her sisters out of it before what happened on Fundament happened. I’d wager that it’s just the writing not adding up, but they probably were going for the angle that Sav already knew to some degree that the Hive were being exploited by the Witness, hence why she deceived them in the past.
Add to this that she apparently knew about Neomuna when Osiris says he saw them through visions via Sav’s memories and it’s kinda pointing in this direction that she may as well have planned ahead for not only her plan to seal away the Traveler possibly failing, but that we’d also find the means to recover Osiris from his stupor. When a majority of your life has revolved around being distrustful, lying, manipulating others and all while keeping up this image of not being allied to any one particular side, I imagine it would stick enough that it’d be hard to break habit. The biggest underlying issue to all of this is whether or not this was planned pre-resurrected Savathûn or after, when she would have lost her prior memories. Did she already know about the Worm Familiar and kept it in that temple knowing we would track it down and use it against herself, therefore proving she was conspiring against herself to fail in sealing the Traveler? If even we had the means of learning what the Familiar knew, who’s to say Sav didn’t? The only reasoning that would drive her indirectly helping us is basically Sword Logic, that in by putting us in a confrontation against her and succeeding that it would make us all the stronger to some degree, and that’s still pretty Hive-y enough to fall in line with the mindset. After all, we did kill Oryx and that alone has enough merit to warrant some attention.

    • And what? Look like Witness can just turn off that oversized golf ball. If cabal could turn it off. Then Witness can turn it off for good or even destroy. But Bungie not gonna do it. Because their story writing is very bad. We could lost traveler at start of Lightfall, lose our light and light subclasses, then go to Neptune acquire new class that connected with darkness, become taken in middle of a year and in the very end if Lightfall year, on last week we go to finally face Witness, mission begins, we see our guardians land at his ship, we see his apartments camera closer, we see Witness face and he then he opens his eyes... then bam!! black screen and notice on it "lost connection to Destiny servers"! After few unsuccessful tries you decide to look into app or site and discover that all your characters and progress was deleted.

      • Who is this so called traveler? Is he so special because he travels around the universe?

        • I don't want to protect the Traveller anymore. I want Guardians to find a way free humanity from being pawns of both the Witness and the Traveller.

          • I am very curious about the specifics of how savathun deceived the the witness during its assault on the traveller. I read a bit about her making a deal with a human family and they had to learn a chant and say it every night - I think that hive magic she got them to do is related to savathun deception of the witness.

The only way the light can win.

Her plan to steal the Traveler and seal it away in her throneworld would of killed us. Everyone in Sol would of died. That was the ultimate culmination of eons of scheming. She wasn’t planning on failing. She didn’t do any of that stuff to help us better protect the Traveler. She did it to create opening to exploit for her own ends, which she did.
