Cross Save items missing
I just came back to Destiny after not playing since 2017 and was really happy to see I could move my characters from XBox to Steam. I had never played on any other platform except Xbox until today. Upon loading up the game, I started playing my Warlock, and it looked like he had all his old armor/gear and had a light level at 1350. Awesome!
However, my Hunter, which was my main for a long time, wasn't at 1350. I logged in on him, and he had no gear besides a set of white rarity stuff. My characters inventory seems to have vanished and been replaced with a set of crappy starter gear. I literally have a zero light level gun and a cape with a light level of like 21. My Legacy story shows the last time I ran Vault of Glass and some other stuff as my hunter, so I know and the game knows that my Hunter was leveled up and geared out, but its all missing. I have some exotic hunter helmets in my Vault, but everything that would have been on the character seems to have disappeared. I read the FAQ, and I dont think this is a case of not having DLCs licenses on Steam because there aren't any DLCs available for sale from 2017 and before.
Any ideas about what happened with my Hunters gear? I did some Google searching and saw a user say that Bungie will not restore items under any circumstances. Am I just out of luck, and my Hunter gear is gone for good? How could this happen?

You used your Hunter to play only 4 missions in 2017 and it has not been played with since, which is why it has year 1 gear from the original Red War campaign. Many exotics can be obtained as random world drops for any class, which you most likely got in the few missions you played with your Hunter or with your Warlock. [quote]My Legacy story shows the last time I ran Vault of Glass and some other stuff as my hunter[/quote] The Veteran cinematic you can view from the character log in screen just shows legacy accomplishments from D1 if your characters were imported to D2. The only other things about D1 characters imported to D2 is their race, appearance, and class.
