In some human cultures it's considered unsanitary to use your left hand for eating or shaking hands, bc these cultures don't always have access to running water so they use the left hand for dirty tasks (like wiping on the toilet) and the right hand for cleaner tasks like eating. Maybe theres a similar culture among eliksni? Where their lower arms are used for dirty tasks or something? I doubt there's lore to back this up it's just speculation but that would add some more gravity to the whole docking thing. You've disgraced the house? Now you have to eat with the same hands you use to clean yourself.
