I’m getting back into D2 for the new season. I don’t normally play seasons. Please can you give me a summary of what’s been happening in the story over the last year or so.

 • I’ll start at Witch Queen. WQ: Savathun gets the Light. We assume she stole it somehow. Mars reappears, but with weird time-ripples showing the past etc… The Relic is also on Mars. Savathuns ship is also on Mars, too. So we go on it we see Savathun go into her throne world. Then we fight a lightbearing knight. So basically we invade her throne world. We do some stuff, kill a lot of Hive etc etc… find out Savathuns plan is to teleport the traveller into her throne world for protection. From who? The Witness, aka the Voice in the Darkness. The Witness controls the pyramid ships and was responsible for the Collapse. We find Savathuns worm, whom she no longer needs. It tells us that Savathun is not on the Witness’ side and that she is the reason humanity survived the collapse. She somehow deceived the Witness. We bring the worm, and other relics we find, the the Altar of Reflection which shows us some of Savathuns memories. This show is that Savathun did not steal the Light. It was given to her by the Traveller, after she died from a wound Mara gave her in the season prior. Which explains why she doesn’t remember some things. It also showed us that the Witness deceived the Hive long ago, and appeared to them before the Traveller did. Making them forces of Darkness not Light. Savathun pulls the traveller into her Throne World, we go to stop her. We show her the memories, but she carries on regardless. We break her spell on the Traveller and it goes back to Earth. We kill Savathun but her ghost, Immaru, escapes (we haven’t seen him since). In the raid, we fight Scorn who are now under the control of the Witness I think. The final boss is Rhulk, the First Disciple of the Witness who has become trapped in the throne world. Risen: Season of the risen is much more straight forward. At the star of WQ, we fought and killed many of Caitl’s Cabal. To repair this relationship we start working together to capture and experiment on Lucent Hive Lightbearers. We get 3. But Crow didn’t really like what we were doing and ended up killing the Psion in charge accidentally. Caitl obviously mad wishes for a life for a life but Saladin steps in sacrificing himself. Instead of killing Saladin, however, Caitl enlists him into the Cabal. He became Bracus Forge, but he still runs Iron Banner. Haunted: In season of the Haunted, Calus and the Leviathan come back, but different. The Leviathan is derelict and filled with Egregore (weird fungus plants connected to the darkness). Calus wishes to become a Disciple of the Witness, to witness the Final Shape. To do this he plans to transfer his consciousness into the Pyramid Ship on the Moon. Because the Leviathan is connected to the Moon, Nightmares fill the Leviathan. And we become haunted by them. Crow’s nightmare is Uldren, Zavala’s is his long-dead wife, Caitl’s is Ghaul. The story revolves around accepting these nightmares and cleansing them. These rituals are an attempt to stop Calus. Ultimately, we fail. Calus merges with the Pyramid and becomes a Disciple. Plunder: Eramis is thawed out by the Witness, given the task to gather the relics of Nezerec. Nezerec was a disciple, now dead. Eramis recruits Fallen pirates to find and claim the relics. Mithrax, the Spider, and the Drifter help us out with getting the relics first. We do cool pirate ship-ship battle, and claim all the relics. Eido, Mithrax’s daughter, helps us out with information about the relics and also ‘negotiations’ with Eramis. Eramis reveals that Mithrax used to possess one of these Relics, and it corrupted him. Mithrax’s mother originally created the relics from the body of Nezerec himself. When we get the last relic, Eido decides to go ahead. The Lucent Hive are there, but Eramis actually saves Eido despite being our enemy. Eramis and Mithrax fight but Eramis escapes. Mithrax and Eido study the relics to find a way to use them. They end up distilling the energy within and using it to wake Osiris from is coma. And that’s it so far! It’s also worth mentioning that in the Vox Obscura mission Caitl sees psionic visions of things to come, which have all been correct. The Leviathan reborn (Haunted) The Ship-stealer revived (Plunder) A city besieged (Neomuna in Lightfall) And that leaves the traveller infected by darkness, which would be next season.
