Can I get a generally accepted definition of "casual gamer?"

I put in time on D2, and consider myself a serious gamer. I don't feel my life is defined by my triumph score or seals, and don't have a panic attack if my k/d drops below the paltry 0.40 I think it is now. But even so, still "serious." But, with no clear-cut criteria as to what is defined as a "GAMER," I'd like to see if there is a base set of factors to determine if I fit the label. That way, I'll know in the future whether my opinion on forum discussions hold any weight or not. A serious question, I'm not looking to ruffle feathers.

  • Dedicated... that's what I would define you. People think there is only 2 different camps, casual or hardcore. There are more players in the middle of these two definitions. Casuals- Players who don't care about much and check out the game every once in a while with low investment.rho care about some things, play regularly but not religiously while generally may want to strive to be better in some ways and not in others. Hardocores- Players who look at fine details, always trying to improve and wanting to be challenged. Constantly wanting to master the game regardless of the time they need to do so. I personally do not put hardcore players in X hours per day/week. Some hardcore players I know don't play more than twice a week but always focus on being efficient with their time. I have also seen people at ranks 900+ be terrible at the game and just like farming for the sake of it. That's a dedicated player at best with a focus.
