I sure hope next season is better
I hope the crucible changes will be great. They sound good on paper, however Im still skeptical.
What Id like to see in the future:
We need a whole season dedicated to core playlists updates (like Season of the Drifter). All old D2 maps/strikes need to be unvaulted. Strike scoring and strike-specific loot needs to come back. Old crucible game modes need to come back (combined arms. Skirmish. Salvage. Supremacy.). We need gambit prime mechanics back with the armor sets.
If you're gonna make us play the core playlists during events, then at least make them fun again (and not stale like they have been)

It won’t, we’ll do the same thing run activities collect currency run other activity learn story upgrade vendor at the helm rinse repeat for about 2 months then have the dawning and lastly prepare for lightfall

At least I had time to do whatever the hell I wanted without feeling rushed to log on everyday to just not miss out on something in this game.

Don't hold your breath, and I don't mean to come off pessimistic. The entire Y5 content has been bad, so I don't imagine the final season will make up for the past three. Since Bungie develops content seasons in advance - I would imagine we'll see substantial changes to the quality of the content we get until Y7 when we start seeing Sony's money influencing the quality.

D1 Iron banner armor Exile trials armor Seasonal armor Season pass armor Eververse armor Dawning armor New Exotic armor And I guess some new guns too, more crafted weapons added again as well as the new seasonal exotic weapon and since we didn't really get an exotic quest for a gun this season I guess we won't next season either so whatever I guess. But mostly it'll just be more of the same, then we get another end season event or cutscene that'll give more lore on the events leading up to lightfall since this will be the last season before lightfall starts so look forward to that I guess.
