Hey guys, this is a strange topic but feel it needs to have some light shined on it.. so lets start with me, who I am. I've played Destiny since the beta on the Xbox 360, I've played on both Console and PC.. sure I've had long periods of inactivity from the game like I'm sure we've all had. I remember the days as a kid in high school spending countless hours grinding VoG, Crota, Trials, etc ... I remember my first Ghorn drop (from crucible) and at the time I thought it was trash and kept it vaulted until Crota came out lmaoo.. oh man all the time spent, was horrible but along this journey I've made a few friends i still talk to till this day... Keep in mind at this time we were all kids in high school, now we are adults, I'm in my career (Software Engineering) my buddy is a paramedic now, and we still talk and play the game pretty much daily.... But there is another friend I have, one who as I like to say is "nerfed IRL", his name is Christian, we call him Eppi. He's completely blind in his left eye and only has 40% vision in his right eye. We've been friends for like 7 years now.. we've played every game together (PUBG, D1, D2, Division, Overwatch, etc..) His favorite game and mine as well is destiny as it has been apart of our life for so long, we both grew up playing this game, his favorite raid was Taken King and had near 200+ completions.. he was super hyped to play the raid again especially it being on the new gen consoles... So this is a friend that I've kept a close for a long time, we do everything together in destiny, he can't really do some of the raids or PvP because of the lighting / graphics, it's either too flashy to where it hurts his head trying to process it or it's to dark like VoG to where it's almost unseeable for him... And when i say "he can't really do the raids" im saying that he choses not to because I feel like he doesn't want to hold the team or myself back, almost as if he might see himself as a burden when in actuality I don't care about the raids.. I already have Vex+ Catty, I beat Kings fall day 1 of normal mode, did Argos like 50x, I've done Calus normal and heroic and the PvP in this game is utter trash.. In reality this is the only MMO I still play and it's only because of him, without him i probably wouldn't game at all or stick to single player games. Here is a Quote from Eppi that he wants me to put in here.
Im a disabled gamer (completely blind in my left eye). I use to play Destiny religiously but when Destiny 2 came out I had to drop the game because it was too much for my one poor eye to handle all the stress with things like the Leviathan raid. I use to be a sherpa for Dead Orbit Alliance in Destiny 1 and helped 100s of new people with their raids. I got back into Destiny 2 last December because I heard about Kings Fall possibly returning so here I am. I know my draw backs of my disabilities and am looking for a clan and friends to play my favorite raid again with and possibly not get mad at me if I die a bit or can't see something or do something immediately. All I want is to have a group of friends to play Destiny 2 with again that won't push me aside because "they don't understand". Anyway, what I am trying to say is that I am looking for new friends that understand and or don't mind my disabilities.
Long story short ... can you devs please get together and develop some more accessibility options for my friend and others like him? Example: During the Oryx encounter being the runner / split between dimensions the platforms that we have to run across are near unseeable for him, before our raid team bailed on us i'd watch him run and slowly 1 by 1 leap from one platform to the other completely over/under shooting the jump ... Over time our teams just bail on us. I've already completed the raid but wanted to help him get his first which he is more than capable of doing, the downfall in the patients of our team which we do explain his situation to prior.. Can you guys work on more accessibility options, or make the raid easy enough for us to 2 man and ill just run through it with him myself. or even easier, Gift his account with touch of malic and a good scout rifle roll so then he doesn't have to do it at all.

  • Most wholesome thing I’ve seen on the forums, I hope the devs see this and work with people who have disabilities to make it so they can access their game.

  • Really wish they would also cut some things from triumphs. I have every triumph completed for Deadeye, EXCEPT the sniper one. My hands shake due to all the medications I take for anxiety and I cannot hold my hands still enough to get a sniper shot in. I’ve posted on this several times, and I’ve yet to see Bungie do anything or even mention it. I’ve completed every single other triumph for the seal, I should be able to skip this one part, or at least have it adjusted. I would even be fine if it was just getting two sniper kills in the same match, just something a little easier.

Awesome post! Im surprised there arent more clans focused on guardians with disabilities. Would be great to see. I think the forums are more of a place to whine and vent frustration rather than actually push for impactful change. This sounds like an actually worthy issue to get behind. If I were you maybe make some sort of petition on change.org and tag bungie on twitter?

  • I'm quite literally dizzy all the time, so seeing platforms when torn between dimensions and to a lesser extent deepsight is horrible for me. I rely on outlines and contrast a bit more than the average player. I'm well aware I'm in the minority of a minority on this one, but some kind of higher contrast mode might benefit a decent amount of players. Then please add SDH options for subtitles. I can usually tell who's speaking in a mission because their name is in the upper right, but not during cutscenes etc.

  • An optional color change would be cool might be a good solution.

  • Definitely support this for quality of life, mental well being, and and gamers feeling useful playing with others. Here's hoping the devs listen to this request to allow visual settings to improve the experience and reduce some of the overly bright / dark coloring. Things like flashbangs are a slap in the face to people with visual difficulties...need less of that not more.
