I'm not sure where to lodge this, because Bungie's contact us information is a nightmare to navigate and their BungieHelp account seemingly doesn't respond to help requests as others have indicated.
[b]Issue: [/b]I'm being repeatedly spammed with notifications about a pending friend invite from another Bungie.net user, however I cannot accept or decline it as the user does not exist.
[b]Cause: [/b]The user had sent the request prior to merging their Bungie accounts for PC and console. The merge resulted in a new ID, changing it from #8420 to #5293. The account still links when you view it on Bungie.net and the mobile app, however it is trying to interact with the original request from #8420 which is no longer valid.

3 RespuestasI don't see you mention trying this, so perhaps you can act on the request here on Bungie.net: https://www.bungie.net/7/en/User/Account/BungieFriends For example, check if you see this request in the "Pending" category.

1 RespuestaI know this is delayed, but thank you for your report. I've passed this issue onto Bungie's Destiny Player Support team for further investigation.

Because there has been no reply from Bungie moderators regarding this issue, and that I can't contact Bungie directly via a support ticket, I've tried to troubleshoot the issue further. The issue has been caused by a combination of the cross save system and what I believe to be how it authenticates with certain user accounts. My friend and I are now BOTH experiencing the issue with the opposite user account. Her Xbox account was under a previous GamerTag which was updated during the account merge. Prior to the merge, she had a pending friend request. As a result, the MysticMayhem#8420 is no longer applicable and cannot be found - but the friend request is still present. Almost a two months later and I'm still having the issue, and I've done a complete reinstall of the game. Why is it so hard to get assistance with the game?
