Really all I want to say, is the Solstice events are for the community, so as such, when upgrading the armor it seems like a great idea to not have pieces that are:
Complete a raid
Complete any Master or Grandmaster Nightfall
The reason being, come on; not everyone can do these things. They're huge time commitments, which not everyone has, that's just life fact. If its an event for the entire community, like all things other than solstice events, all goals should be attainable either single player or with a matchmade group, and not restricted to party required activities. Like give us "____ or _____" options with all of it.
I don't mind doing whatever, but I'm one who cannot commit to the raid stuff. They already have their own armor sets, events don't need to involve them too.

“Huge time commitments, which not everyone has” Yet every step for each armor piece is a huge time commitment. The entire event is a huge time commitment. That point you are trying to make is invalid.

My solution Helmet: go to the to tower Arms: kill any enemy Chest: pick up a material Legs: load a weapon Class item : spend $1000 on eververse

Atleast they left out trials this time -
It's like two hours tops to do a VoG run, and you have a whole month to find that time. On top of people wanting to clear with newbies so they can get progress towards the sherpa emblem. This year is probably the easiest it's ever been

You can just complete the boss checkpoint on a raid. Dungeon also. Master or GM nightfall is the one that takes time. But not that long. I managed in less than an hour and that was my 1st time ever doing a master NF.

Huge time commitments? An hour at most to complete 2 objectives on 2 pieces of armour are huge time commitments? Ok.
