Wyverns are the only combat frame, I believe. They're armed with no visible tools for research, only those blasters and that Blam!-ing jump attack.
I know that Hydras act as CPUs, and I think Harpies are meant to observe the sky. Minotaurs are builders.

Harpies are data movers (if thats the right way to put it) they appear in numbers most times and move fast to move data.

Ah, I see. I thought they were observers because their idle animation sees them looking up at the sky.

It is mentioned in one of the splicer bounties, they are data movers and collectors. The reason they look up in the sky is them probably conserving energy or whatever the vex do.

What about goblins/hobogoblins

The goblin idle animation sees them examining the ground sometimes, so I assume they collect samples and data to pass on to Hydras and other computational units. Hobgoblins, I can only assume work along the same lines.
