Masterworked exotic weapons don't give Ascendant Shards. The only easy ways to get them as a solo player are from the first Valor and Infamy resets of the season and farming Enhancement Prisms from Legend Nightfalls to buy Ascendant Shards. I would honestly suggest using the LFG app to find groups for Master or Grandmaster Nightfalls.
