PS5 Error Code “Cabbage”

On December 8, 2020, the PS5/ Series X update/upgrade was released and the slow onslaught of error code “[b]cabbage[/b]” began. I was first hit with “[b]cabbage[/b]” while running the Legend Nightfall: The Inverted Spire with my boyfriend. We were able to make it past the Vex room when we started to experience an issue. No enemies spawned as we descended down towards the Cabal area right before the control room. As we stood in the area waiting for the Cabal to spawn, my boyfriend got a “[b]reconnecting message[/b]” before he was kicked to orbit and the enemies spawned on me. Thinking it was just a [b]connection[/b] issue like error code “beaver,” he tried to join again while I was at a death screen which resulted in neither of us being able to load into the strike. After not being able to [b]connect[/b] to each other, we decided to try a Xillox Wrathborn Hunt. We had the same issues in that activity as when we were in the Nightfall, except we couldn’t [b]connect[/b] to each other after the actual launch of the mission. This happened again the next day with the exception being we swapped out the Wrathborn Hunt for the Master Dark Priestess Empire Hunt. In the Empire Hunt, we got to the room with the Brig and two (2) Overload Captains where we experienced once again, no enemies spawning. We decided to wipe and see if it would help make the enemies spawn which it did. We both spawned into the hallway just before the room but I spawned as a dead guardian waiting to be revived. My boyfriend went to revive me but the action would be canceled out and I had to wait thirty (30) seconds to revive myself. This was also not possible as I was met with a “finding respawn location” message. These issues kept repeating themselves even if we had a third person who hosted with us. We also found we couldn’t play Gambit with each other after a couple of matches, so we went our separate ways. I continued to play Gambit while he went and helped our new clan members (who we convinced to buy the game) through the story missions and strikes. We had no [b]connection[/b] or “[b]cabbage[/b]” issues. We continued to do separate activities for a couple of days until we tried to play Iron Banner and then we were hit with “[b]cabbage[/b]” once again. Frustrated with the repeated error code, we went to the [b]help forums[/b] on [b]Bungie.net[/b] and found an article related to “[b]cabbage[/b]. This article had suggestions that did apply to our router which is a [b]Netgear Nighthawk AC4000 Smart WiFi Router (R8000P-100NAS)[/b]. (Please keep in mind when we experience any kind of [b]connectivity[/b] problems our go to [b]troubleshooting[/b] solutions include: closing and restarting the game: testing [b]network connection[/b]: restarting our consoles: restarting our modem and [b]router[/b].) We then went to the Advanced Troubleshooting UPnP, Port Forwarding, and NAT Types article which was of no help because our router was already at these settings. We kept looking through [b]Bungie’s help articles[/b] thinking one of them could help and found more questions than answers. We noticed that the [b]moderators[/b] were doing their best to try and help people who were experiencing “[b]cabbage[/b]” with outdated articles. After reading through these posts and looking back on our own experiences, we came to the conclusion the “[b]cabbage[/b]” issue was a problem on [b]Bungie’s[/b] end. We think this because my boyfriend and I play in the same room within 20 feet of our router (I am wired and he is wireless) and we could play Beyond Light on our PS5s just fine before the upgrade was released with the PS4 enhanced version. We also came across a post in the forums that said the author had bought a brand new router and still had “[b]cabbage[/b]” show up. Error code “[b]cabbage[/b]” has hindered my ability to play Destiny 2 because I cannot play with my boyfriend or our friends in high level activities. We have put thousands of dollars into the game through in-game purchases, donations, Collector editions, digital deluxe editions. We are always trying to recruit our friends to get back into the game because we love the game so much. We have thousands of hours put into the game and want to keep playing, but until “[b]cabbage[/b]” has been fixed, we’re going to have to put our time and money into another game that we can play together.
