Cabal and Fallen relevancy

I feel as though these two races need to not exist anymore as enemy factions. I really don't understand how the Red Legion have any commanders or ship fleets left in the system. Even more so, left uncheck by the Vanguard. I understand that the Cabal can't go home until they win, but their leaders are dead. And Calus is exiled and on our side (for now) I also don't understand how Cabal are able to manipulate Vex tech without the Vex stopping them. Cabal were never really a big threat. The only reason the Red War was even possible was because they had used guerilla sneak attacks and caged the Traveler. If they went to war with the Guardians head on, no tricks. They would have lost. They're not on Oryx/Hive God or Vex Mind tiers. Atheon could have beaten them. Crota would have beaten them. As for the Fallen. They are a literal dying race. How do they keep getting new boss Captains/Kells to randomly appear every 3 months or so? It made sense with people like Skolas or other Fallen that were Pre-Whirlwind/Great Disaster and were full of centuries of ether and battle experience. But if we look at what has happened to them. Mara wiped out a good chunk of House Wolves during the Reef Wars. Then our Guardians wipe out the ranking Vandals, Dregs, and Barons during House of Wolves dlc. House Devils lost their Kell to Saint-14. Lost their main Servitor, Sepiks to our Guardian. Siva happens and they get wiped out again. House Kings was wiped out by Uldren and Fikrul and turned into the Scorn. House Winter had their Kell splattered after he escaped the PoE. House Exile was mostly comprised of leaderless dregs and vandals. Any Fallen we kill can techincally turn into Scorn. And Oryx/Savathun have taken a good chunk of the Fallen. There should really only be a handful of Fallen left and they are borderline extinct. It would make more sense to just remove them as an enemy faction and create House Light. Let me know what you guys think about the Fallen and Cabal if you're interested in what you read.

  • <The Fallen's call to unite into the House of Dusk was short-lived. The Fanatic is the only one who can turn Fallen into Scorn, and the dude's in the Tangled Shore and being dealt with weekly. Mithrax, Variks, and Eramis are vying for power over the remains of the Dusk, and the latter's the only real enemy. Wait until the Darkness arrives, that'll get the first two working together real quick with little convincing on our end vs if we did it now. Then, deal with Eramis, who'll either look at the Deep and go "shit, maybe I should join the rest of my species to survive" or continue downward into piracy and scavenging. Yeah, the Red Legion should stop being a threat.>

    • They are the only races that aren’t “fantasy” races, they are straight up aliens. Although the Fallen had the Light and the Cabal are now experimenting with Darkness. Vex, Hive, Scorn & Taken are much more linked to powers beyond the universe than the Fallen and Cabal

    • The cabal are very capable fighters and I think your underestimating them. Look at the cabal invasion of the dreadnought, it took oryx using his taken powers to halt their advance by taking the commander. Even then the shield brothers managed to take control of the core and almost blew it up. Also your talking about a race who have captured thousands of worlds and rule over countless species. The thing about military, if a commander dies then a new one is promoted. For fallen new captains grow from vandals and vandals grow from dregs. as for archons/kells there haven't been any since D1. Various D2 lore has stated that all of them are dead and the fallen have switched to a new structure of crime lords. They are on their last legs but will either fight to the end or more likely join us some time in the future. I believe Varicks has become the kell of house dusk and believes he is the kell of kell and will attack us to reclaim the traveler. But I think mithrax is actually the true kell of kells and will full fill the prophecy by challenging Varicks to gain control of the largest house and then force them to work with us to share the traveler.

They need to establish that a new Emperor was chosen by Ghaul back on the Cabal homeworld. They also need the consul to return or an imposter to take over so we have a villain/antagonist here(our solar system) to be felt as a threat. This way Calus can finally aid us in Patrols and such. Just randomly dropping in cabal units to help us. This could be for Strikes, dungeons, patrols etc. As for the fallen, we need the House of Dusk "Kell" to finally make a dominant appearance. This would mean making Variks an enemy or the Kell of Kings making a remarkable comeback from his borderline death by Fikrul and Uldren. Another way to make the Fallen a bigger threat is to use Skolas(again) and make him the new ruler of the Scorn(we also still need an update on where the Fanatics staff went since it literally MADE the Scorn(probably the nine gave it to Uldren)). Edit: The only reason I do not think a new Fallen house should be added quite yet is because we have yet to have an all compelling story about the House of Dusk.(excluding lore, I am talking about in game content)

What I want most Is a Human/Cabal/Eliksni Alliance. For humanity, being more xenophilic could attract more allies throughout the galaxy, as well as attracting any stronger Fallen Houses on the other side of the galaxy. Plus, we can gift the Eliksni a sort of reservation world so they can rebuild their empire in the company of the traveler's chosen. Additionally, either through Calus or through desperation for survival, the remaining red legion troops in the system could and should end the conflict, which is getting pointless now, and either join us against the doom doritos or they will die, in a backwater system surrounded by dead allies. If you are going to be consumed by an immortal darkness, why not be in good company, am I right?

              • So the cabal arent a relevant threat? The Emperor? The fallen? What happens when one shows up wielding paracausual power? Anyway. Bungie does need to move the story forward. Right now the races are just a reason to have wave of bad guys. There is really no evolution of any of their statuses.

                • i think you're underestimating that the entire fallen species moved to sol. the way youre putting it is like saying you killed all the world leaders, then wiped out all of china and russia and europe. its a big hit to their population for sure, but it doesnt change the fact that there are still countless left. there could be entire planets full of them on the borders of sol, we just dont know because we havent been to say, pluto or neptune in-game. the red legion should absoloutley be gone; they've lost absoloutley everything and based on how frequently we kill them, there shouldnt be any left around. but the actual cabal empire spans dozens of solar systems, if not more, so there should still be cabal around. i understand the harvester is absoloutley massive and there was probably a couple billion on that to start with, so any RL on mercury makes sense, but anywhere else seems unlikely. as for the other cabal legions, i'm aware a lot of troops were drafted into red legion when they arrived in sol, but i'm not sure if that was EVERY cabal in sol, so there should be some of them kicking about.

                  • Like ghost said below. Cabal are perfectly fine as a species, just they aren’t prominent in the solar system. They joined this light v dark war because they felt like it, unlike all the other races who were kind of forced into it. Also the red legion, sure they are leaderless but still they are the best trained in the solar system and would beat any of the races, except guardians, down. The Red Legion is practically just a collection of the cabal empire’s best, it is actually surprising to me we were able to take the city back, during the invasion it seemed like a fair fight when we had light and they did not.

                    • The cabal empire is there out there, the red legion was only the strongest legion but not all of the legions.

                      • I agree with removing them, but in a way that does not open humanity to a house of wolves or variks scenario.

                      • The Cabal and Fallen will likely join us when the Darkness shows up. The Hive and Taken will most likely unite with the triangle ships. The Vex have been primarily neutral and just shoot whatever isn't one of them. They'll more than likely either sit out the impending war or come out to kill the weakened winner.

                      • I personally think that Bungie is setting this up so that eventually the fallen have to turn to humanity to save them and they all become allies.

                      • This is bungies best chance to let us guardians play as eliksni other than human/exo/awoken. You would think that after all them years of the eliksni following the traveller and attempting to reclaim it due to previously being abandoned in theyre own golden age that the traveller would almost feel sorry for the eliskni race now -seeing so few of them left. It would be pretty cool if the traveller gave the ghosts the option to revive dead eliksni thus forming the house of light.

The Red Legion became the main force of the Cabal Empire under Ghaul. Once they are assigned to conquer a system they cannot come home until victorious. That is why they’re still a threat. Think about it. Not once in that ending battle from memory do we actually destroy a Cabal ship. We slaughter cabal sure, but I don’t remember downing a ship. It’s not far fetched to believe the fleet is still active, though weakened. The Fallen are also heavily reduced, yes. Which is why the Fallen aren’t doing much at the moment. The three main players are vying for control of the remaining Fallen. We’ll see them come into the fold as long as the Devil Baroness isn’t the one who wins.
